Zambia’s Esther Phiri, 59 kg, won the GBU Inter-continental title when she defeated Germany’s Elina Tissen, 57 kg. The two fought for 10 rounds, with Phiri winning on points.

Bantamweight Alejandra Lopez, 119, now 2-3-0, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, won by a four-round decision over Brianna Hines, 118, 1-1-0. Also, junior middleweight Nicole Woods won a four-round unanimous decision over Carrine Hamlett. Final judges scores were 49-35, 39-36, and 39-36.

April 26, 2008 - Old Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Junior Flyweight Samson Sor Siriporn [Siriporn Taweesuk] won a 10-round majority decision over Kayoko Ebata, 1-1-0.  This bout was for the WBC junior flyweight belt, where Siriporn [Taweesuk] was defending her title. Neither of these boxers are rated with WBAN in our world ratings.  In a news article [xinhuanet] they wrote that Cambodia was chosen as the host of the bout, between Japanese boxer Kayoko Ebata and Thai boxer Samson Sor Siriporn, that they were quoting from a WBC Press Release.  According to xinhuanet, the press release said that the two boxers wanted to compete in a neutral country, therefore WBC selected Cambodia. Also that the match would have three judges and an American arbitrator, Gene Debianco.  The fight was apparently televised on Cambodian Television Channel 5. On the ABS-News website they reported the following: "Former convict-turned boxer Samson Sor Siriporn retained her World Boxing Council light flyweight title by beating Japanese challenger Kayoko Ebata.
The 24-year-old champion, whose real name is Siriporn Taweesuk, looked passive in the early rounds before she began to fight back, landing many blows on Ebata's face in the middle of 10th round. The judges gave Siriporn the victory, scoring the bout 97:95, 95:95, 96:94."   [Logged into master search]

Jennifer Barber won by a four-round unanimous decision over  Elizabeth Villarreal. Final judges scores were 40-36.

April 24, 2008 -  Quinault Resort & Casino, in Ocean Shores, Washington
Tammie Johnson
, 135, 3-0, fought tough veteran, Molly McConnell, 141, who is ranked #5 in the WBAN Ratings. McConnell won the six-rounder by a close majority decision with one judge seeing the fight a draw. Johnson is showing early in this game as a pro that she is not hesitant to take on some noted opponents. Final judges scores, 59-55, 58-56, and 57-57.  Also, on the card, Brittany Cruz (sister of world champion Terri Cruz, 120, won a four-round unanimous decision over Sky Bell, 122, who was making her pro debut. Final judges scores were 40-36 on all cards.

Junior middleweight Rachel Clark, 141, [1:19 seconds] TKO’d Betsy Rowell, 159, in the second round of a round round bout.

Super bantamweight Emanuela Pantani won a six-round bout by points over

April 19, 2008 -  Companhia Athletica Brooklin, in Sao Paulo, Brazil
Junior welterweight Duda Yankovich remained undefeated,  now 11-0-0 (5KO), who fights out of Brazil,  won an eight-round unanimous decision over Darys Pardo, of Colombia.  This was a rematch for the two, with Yankovich fought Pardo in a 10-round WIBA title bout in November of 2006, and winning by a unanimous decision. Also, bantamweight Simone Da Silva Duarte, now 7-0-0 (2KO),  won an eight-round unanimous decision over Valeria Dos Santo; in another junior welterweight bout, Tatiana Giordano, KO’d Shirley Gutierrez, in a scheduled six rounder, and lastly, junior welterweight Silvana Lima da Silva, KO’d Leticia Rojo, in the fourth round of a scheduled four-rounder.  [Logged into master search]

In the women’s fight, Venezuelan Ana Fernandez, 105, defeated Colombian Olga Julio, by TKO in the 7th round.  One source said, “Good fight. Good fighters, Exciting and a crowd pleaser. Fernandez was aggressive and attacking throughout the fight. Julio countered well each time but got a little tired after the 5th round.  In the 7th round Julio suffered a bloody nose and on the advice of the .ringside physician the fight was stopped, 1 minute and 32 seconds into the 7th round. Junior Flyweight Klaudia Ferenci, 110½, won by points in a four-round bout, over Simona Pencakova, 112½. Final score by judge was 40-36.

April 17, 2008 -  Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, in Lemoore, California Photo Gallery #476 - Photo Flash Slideshow #84 Jessica Rakoczy and Cindy Serrano fought a good clean and fast-paced eight rounds. Rakoczy won the fight by a unanimous decision, with a 80-72 scores from all three judges. There were no knockdowns, and neither appeared to be in trouble during the match.  In what would have been a world title bout, Carina Moreno was to have fought Dan-Bi Kim, for the vacant WIBA and WBC Strawweight belt, but it was discovered that her actual age was 17 years old, and the fight was cancelled.  According to photographer Bob Silverman who covered the event for WBAN, about eight people made the trip with Kim from Korea for this fight with Moreno.  WBAN was also told by another source that the commission cancelled the fight. According to our sources, the State Athletic Commission official had confirmed that Kim's paperwork had the correct date of birth, but that the state people did not check it for age until Thursday.  [logged on Master Search.]

Super featherweight Crystal Delgado, now 5-0-0 (1KO), of Houston, stopped her opponent, Candace Lett, now 2-4-0 (2KO), of Van Buren, Arkansas, 1:24 seconds of the first round. J & P Photography reported that Delgado’s forward aggressive style, and expertise was no match for Lett.

Super middleweight Laura Ramsey, 168¾, won a four-round unanimous decision over Alexandra Maloy, 163¼.  Ramon Aranda of 411mania.com reported, "Ramsey scored a lopsided four round decision over fellow super middleweight, Germany's Alexandra Malloy. Ramsey pounded her opponent throughout the bout, even scoring a knockdown with a brutal right cross in the final round of the four rounder." [logged on Master Search.]

Junior welterweight Sarah Pucek TKO'd Theresa Doerksen in the first round. Photographer Mike Blair told WBAN, “Sarah Pucek looked far from a young fighter making her pro debut when she faced Theresa Doerksen, also making her pro debut, in a four round bout.”   Dave Allison, Pucek's trainer told canada.com,  "Our goal is to take the title away from [Jeannine] Garside within two years, not to mention the pound-for-pound honours now afforded to Garside," Allison added. "If Sarah was an amateur hockey player going to the pros she would be a first round pick; that's how significant her turning pro is to the local pro boxing scene."
