O
n the "Collision at the Coliseum" card, Kasha “The Fighting Marine” Chamblin won an eight-round unanimous decision over Donna Biggers. The judges scores were 80-72 on all cards. J & P Photography who covered the fight for WBAN, said, “Biggers looked to be a heavy hitter and she withstood the initial onslaught of Chamblin with a good return of her own. At times, Chamblin was able to land some accurate jabs to Biggers. Kasha looked like she played a "rope-a-dope" with her opponent, staying in a shell stance and letting Biggers wail away with some clubbing shots. Biggers, at times, taunted Chamblin trying to make her mad...trying to make her open up to leave herself open.”  In a post fight interview, Chamblin said, ““Because she[Biggers] had so many first and second-round knockouts (16 of Biggers’ 19 wins had come by KO, 14 of them in the first two rounds), I wanted to set a tone and show I wasn’t backing down. I went in wanting to throw every punch hard in every round.”  Biggers said after the fight, ““I was trying to get my counterpunching down. she (Chamblin) caught me with some good shots. She had a good jab and she has heart because I know I caught her a couple of times. She’s a little better than I anticipated.”  Photos - Video by J & P Photography

It was Romona's first fight after a relatively long layoff (almost 5 months) due to two fight cancellations on short notice. David, who has also fought the best in her division that include Sophie Mathis and Melinda Cooper, proved to be very seasoned and tricky and survived most of the attacks of Ramona. Siriporn was defending her WBC light flyweight title. Sports writer and photographer Scott Mallon was ringside at the event, and told WBAN, “She (Siriporn) looked slightly better than in the past but she is far from world class caliber. Her manager had Khaokor and Khaosai Galaxy come in to work with her and it helped, but it takes years to produce a world class fighter and she’s got her work cut out for her.” Mallon went on to say that “Although Sor Siriporn had in no way been deserving of a world title shot, this should not take away from her own hard work and accomplishments. She is a positive example for those who want to change their lives around and is now looked up to as someone who has turned their life around.” She’s worked hard with what little she’s been given and made the most of it. There are other women far more deserving of a title shot but unfortunately the most deserving fighters are not always given opportunities. This is something that happens everywhere in the world and in many ways, the sanctioning bodies can be thanked for this, “ added Mallon. A Singaporean film company is currently producing a documentary about Siriporn’s life for National Geographic. The film should be completed in 6-12 months and once completed will be shown worldwide. Also in another women's bout, strawweight Nongmai Sor Siriporn (Wannee Chaisena) won a six-round decision by points over Wassana Sangduen.

In the Rochester News they reported the following: "Both women mixed it up from start to finish in the four round event, with Nunez coming away with a majority decision - two judges calling the fight for Nunez and one calling it a draw. Nearly everyone on press row thought it should have been a draw, with Garbatt winning rounds 2 and 4, while Nunez carried the first and third. The crowd voiced their displeasure, raining down a chorus of boos after the decision. Nunez improved to 3-2, but Garbatt was clearly the crowd favorite and should have a bright future in the ring. Both fighters displayed some of the best technical boxing of the entire evening, a tribute to their dedication and the skill of their trainers."  Logged in Master Search
