5'3" straw-weight Krisztina "Baby" Belinszky was born in
Budapest, Hungary on October 2, 1979.
She is managed by János Perutek Jr and trained by
Zoltan Kiss.
She began boxing as an amateur in 1996 and won the bronze medal in the Hungarian Amateur Championship in 1997
and the silver Medal in the International Cup of Szeged. She did not compete
in 1998, as the Hungarian government lacked the funds to support

Between 1999 and 2000, Krisztina won all of her matches, including the
International Festival Cup, Amazon Cup, and Budapest Championship. She also won
the gold medal in the 1999 and 2000 amateur Hungarian Championships; on September 4, 1999 in Meinsdorf, Berlin, Germany, Krisztina won a second-round
TKO over Jeanette Riger in a scheduled six-rounder; on April 29, 2000 in Bytom, Poland:
Ewelina Polok of Poland TKO'd Krisztina in the first round of a scheduled
four-rounder; on May 5, 2000 in the 48-kg quarterfinals of the Feenix Box Cup in Turku, Finland.
Krisztina lost a 5-0 decision to Carina Moreno of Watsonville, California, who
went on to win the gold medal and was voted the tournament's best boxer; on June 2, 2000 in Nove Zamky, Slovakia:
Flyweight Suzanna Lencosova of Slovakia fought Krisztina to a four-round draw.
Lencosova moved her record to 0-1-1; on September 2, 2000 in Dinslaken, Germany:

Flyweight María Jesús Rosa of Spain
moved to 8-0-0 with a six-round decision over Krisztina; on February 23, 2002 at Rhein-Mosel-Halle in Koblenz, Germany, Nadja Loritz of Koblenz won a ten-round majority (97-95,96-94,95-95) decision
over Krisztina for the WIBF-GBU Light Flyweight Title.
Loritz progressed to 8-0-2 (5 KO's) with the win; on March 9, 2002 in Montecatini Terme, Italy, Sonia De Biase of Italy progressed to
6-1-0 with a six-round decision over Krisztina; on March 15, 2002 in Salgótarján, Hungary,
Krisztina won a four-round unanimous decision over Judit Palacian of Romania,
who fell to 1-3 with the loss; and on September 14, 2002 in Gárdony, Hungary,
Krisztina won a four-round decision over Tímea Dencsi of
Budapest, who fell to 0-3-0.
On May 31, 2003 at Blue Alligator Gym in Budapest, Hungary,
Krisztina (107½ lbs) won by a second-round TKO over Natalia Bakos (110¼ lbs)
of Hungary in a scheduled four-rounder.
Bakos fell to 0-2.
On July 4, 2003 in Delva Marina, Italy,
#12 ranked flyweight
Sonja De Biase (110¼ lbs) of Cetraro Marina, Italy won a six-round decision
over Krisztina (108 lbs).
De Biase improved her record to 10-1-0 (4 KO).
On April 24, 2004 at City Hall, Komarno, Slovakia, Krisztina won a unanimous
(40-36) decision over debut fighter Éva Ott.
On May 28, 2004 at City Sporthall in Kazincbarcika, Hungary, Krisztina
knocked out pro debutante Blanca Plecimutova of Slovakia in the first round of a
scheduled four-round flyweight contest.
On June 10, 2004 in Nove Zamky, Slovakia,
Krisztina (101¾ lbs) knocked out Valeria Zahorecova (117¾ lbs) of Slovakia with
a double uppercut to the body in the second round of a scheduled four rounder.
Zahorecova fell to 0-2 with the loss.
On July 9, 2004 in Vinné, Slovakia, Krisztina (106 lbs) won by KO at 0:12 in the fourth round against
Blanca Plecimutova (113 lbs) of Slovakia
in a rematch, in a scheduled six-rounder. Plecimutova was down for a count in each round. At
the beginning of the fourth round, Belinszky made her mark with a beautiful left jab, followed by a right uppercut and left
hook combination. The ref counted out Plecimutova. Plecimutova fell to 0-2-0.
On September 10, 2004
at City Sport Hall in Tököl, Hungary,
in the main event, Krisztina (102¾ lbs) won a unanimous (100-89) ten-round
decision over Juliane Quaassdorff (102¾ lbs)
to capture the vacant WIBF-GBU World Straw-weight title. Belinszky dominated in every
round, and knocked Quaassdorff down in the second with a double left and right hook combination.
This fight saw Quaassdorff knocked down for the first time in her career, as she
suffered her first defeat.
On November 23, 2004 in Galanta, Slovakia, Krisztina (101¾ lbs) TKO'd Annamaria Szucsova (112 lbs) in
the second round of a scheduled four-round contest.
On December 30, 2004 in Nové Zámky, Slovakia, Krisztina (103¼ lbs) won by a second-round TKO
over Maria Vinceova (105¾ lbs) in a scheduled six-rounder. Vinceova fell to 0-3 with the loss
On March 13, 2005 at City Sport Hall in Szolnok, Hungary
Krisztina (103¼ lbs) won a ten-round unanimous (100-90) decision over Gabriella Insperger
(107¼ lbs) for the vacant Vacant WIBU Light Flyweight Title in the card's main event.
There were no knockdowns. Insperger fell to 4-6-0 (3 KOs).
On June 3, 2005 at
Margitsziget in Kalandvár Park in Budapest, Hungary
Krisztina TKO'd Erzsébet Budai in the third round of a four-rounder.
On June 24, 2005 at Sporthall Láng in Budapest, Hungary,
Krisztina (103¼ lbs) won a unanimous six-round (60-54) decision
in a rematch with Gabriella Insperger (104¾ lbs) who fell to 4-7-0.
On September 3, 2005 at the Újlak School Gymnasium in Budapest, Hungary,
in the main event, Krisztina successfully defended her WIBF-GBU Minimumweight
World title by a ten-round unanimous (97-94,97-93,100-92) decision over Stephanie Dobbs from Moore, Oklahoma. The bout
was action-packed throughout.
Dobbs was the aggressor and maintained her attack with power punches
throughout the fight, but Krisztina moved and jabbed well to control
the action despite absorbing some hard shots. In the last round her
coach advised
Dobbs to "put all her eggs in one basket", but Belinskzy withstood her
finishing effort. Dobbs fell to 18-19-2.
Dobbs told WBAN that she felt that she "performed very well and that she won the fight".
She added that fighting on Belinzsky's home ground gave Krisztina an advantage as
when she tagged Belinzsky with a very hard shot, the crowd was silent.
On November 3, 2005 in Nové Zámky, Slovakia, Krisztina (101¾ lbs) won by a first-round TKO
over Maria Vinceova (108¾ lbs) of Slovakia, who fell to 0-2.
On December 10, 2005 at the Emperor
Garden in Budapest, Hungary Krisztina (101½ lbs) won a ten-round unanimous (100-89,98-91,98-92)
decision over Terri Moss (5'1½",
103¼ lbs) of Athens, Georgia for the
vacant WIBC Straw-weight title. This was by all accounts an ugly fight
characterized by a lot of holding and wrestling inside although only Moss drew
warnings or penalties (for a head butt in the sixth round). Moss's nose was
broken early in the fight and both teams accused the other of dirty fighting. Belinskzy improved to 17-5-2 (9 KOs)
while the 39-year-old Moss, who had now lost four in a row, fell to 6-9-0 (2
KO's).
On April 8, 2006 at the Emperor
Garden, Budapest, Hungary, Krisztina (102½ lbs) defeated Svetla Taskova
(112 lbs) of Bulgaria by a ten-round unanimous (97-93,100-91,98-94) decision
defending her WIBC and WIBF-GBU Strawweight Title. Taskova took the
fight at very short notice as scheduled opponent Ria Ramnarine of Trinidad did
not make it closer to Budapest than London, England, where she had been expected
to pick up her visa. Taskova fell to 4-15-1 (1 KOs).
On August 26, 2006 at the Emperor Garden, in
Budapest, Hungary, Krisztina (102½ lbs) won by a 79-74 score over
Marianne Chubirka (111¼ lbs) of Vero Beach, Florida (who had come in over the
contracted weight limit for the bout.) As with previous bouts of Belinszky's,
there was controversy over the judging. Chubirka's record fell
to 3-4-0 (2 KO's) with this decision. The lone judge for the non-title bout was Hungary's Imre Nagy.
On November 25, 2006 at the Wekerle Sándor Sport and Leisure Complex in Mór,
Hungary Hollie Dunaway (104 lbs) of Arkansas won by a ten-round split
(99-94,97-95,94-96) decision over Krisztina (102½
lbs) for the WIBF-GBU and WIBC minimumweight titles. The later rounds of
tis fight were action packed and spectacular, according to Belinszky's publicist
JollyDee. Belinszky congratulated Dunaway for her win and said she would like to
have a rematch with Hollie if given the opportunity. Dunaway improved to 17-4-0 (10 KOs) with the win.
On March 3, 2007 at the SlimTrax Gym in Budapest, Hungary
Krisztina (102½ lbs) outpointed Beatrix Farago (110½ lbs). This fight
was originally scheduled for February 19, 2007 but the Hungarian
federation cancelled it because of the three weight class difference between two
fighters. Belinszky and Farago eventually fought under an Austrian license and
EBF (European Boxing Federation) supervision. The Austrian referee René
Netolicky scored 79-75 for Belinszky, who improved to 20-6-2 (9 KOs).
On August 19, 2007 at Pristav pri Kompe in
Šturovo, Slovakia, Krisztina (102½ lbs) won a four-round unanimous (40-36,40-37,40-38) decision
over Simona Pencakova (109¼ ls) of Kosice, Slovakia. Pencakova remained winless
at 0-10-1 while Belinszky improved
to 21-6-2 (9 KOs).
On November 18, 2007 in Okayama, Japan, Nao
Ikeyama (101¾ lbs) of Japan won a 10-round unanimous (98-94,97-94,98-95)
decision over Krisztina Belinszky (100¼ lbs) for the vacant WIBA Strawweight
title. Ikeyama improved to 8-1-1 (3 KOs) while dropping
Belinszky to
21-7-2 (9 KOs).
On May 31, 2008 at the Chameleon
Club in Budapest, Hungary,
Krisztina Belinszky (99 lbs) won a ten-round unanimous (99-92,99-92,98-92)
decision over Melissa Shaffer (99¼ lbs) of the
USA and captured the vacant GBU and WIBC Minimumweight world titles.
On March 6, 2009 at the
BudaBox Gym in Budapest, Krisztina Belinszky (101½
lbs) outscored (40:36) Klaudia Ferenci (101¾
lbs) of Slovakia in a four-rounder that was said to be a tuneup for an upcoming
title bout. Belinszky improved to 23-7-2 (9 KOs)
while Ferenci fell to 1-3 (0 KO's) with the loss.
On November 29, 2009 at Körösi Csoma School
Gymnasium in Érd, Hungary, in the main event, Krisztina Belinszky (100¼
lbs) won a ten-round unanimous (100-90 x 3) decision
over Sarah Goodson (102 lbs) of Arkansas, USA.
Belinskzy was defending her GBU Strawweight title and also captured the vacant
WIBF Minimumweight title. Both boxers began very aggressively but Belinszky
took control and outscored Goodson with her long jabs. The once-retired Goodson fell to 28-17-1 (9
KO's) with the loss. On September 12, 2010 at SpinCity Gym in Budapest, Hungary, Krisztina Belinszky (102 lbs) won a four-round decision over Elke
Beinwachs (108 lbs) of Leoben, Austria. Beinwachs fell to 1-5 (0 KO's). On March 19, 2011 at City
Hall Milénium in Nové Zámky, Slovakia, Krisztina Belinszky won a
four-round decision over Melinda Zsiga, who fell to 0-2. On
March 27, 2011 at Ujlak School Gymnasium in Budapest, Hungary,
Krisztina Belinszky (102¾ lbs) won a four-round (40-35) decision
over Gabriella Insperger (102¼ lbs) of Salonta, Romania. Insperger fell
to 4-10 (3 KO's). . On May 1, 2011 at Citizen Square Gymnasium in Gunpo, South Korea, Ji-Hyun Park (101½ lbs) of Incheon, South
Korea TKO'd Krisztina (101½ lbs)
at 1:42 in the sixth round of a scheduled ten-rounder for Park's
IFBA Minimumweight title. Park improved to 13-2 (5 KO's) with the win. On
June 2, 2011 at Toto Gym in Budapest, Hungary, Krisztina (102¾ lbs)
TKO'd Erzsebet Budai (106) lbs) of Nyergesújfalu, Hungary
at the end of the first round of a scheduled four-rounder when
Budai retired. Budai fell to 0-5 with her second loss to
Belinszky, who improved to 28-8-2 (10 KOs). On August 11, 2011, Krisztina told
WBAN that she was retiring from boxing competion but would continue to
be associated with the sport as a manager and professional boxing
judge.
