Special Tribute: Female Boxer Alesia Graf Passed Away at the age of 43 years old
by Ron Scarfone

March 26, 2024

(MAR 26) Alesia “The Tigress” Graf unexpectedly passed away at the age of 43. It is currently unknown as to the reason or reasons for her untimely death. [complete Biography on Alesia Graf]

Graf was born in Gomel, Belarus on October 14, 1980. Her birth name was Alesia Klimovich. She moved to Germany in 1999. Her last name changed to Graf because of marriage in 2002. She resided in Stuttgart, Germany where she trained as a boxer.

Graf began her boxing training in 2001 and made her pro debut in 2004. Graf became a citizen of Germany in 2008.

Her death was confirmed by her friend and former training partner Regina Halmich. Both Halmich and Graf were promoted by Universum Box-Promotion during their boxing careers. Universum is based in Hamburg, Germany. Halmich was inducted into both the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) and the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF).

Graf won the vacant Global Boxing Union (GBU) world super flyweight title in 2006. She successfully defended that title eleven consecutive times.

She also won the Women’s International Boxing Federation (WIBF) world super flyweight title in 2008 and made four successful defenses of that title while also defending her GBU title.

One of the notable boxers that Graf defeated was future Hall of Famer Zulina Munoz who was then undefeated at 16-0. Graf at the time had a record of 17-1 with her only loss to IBHOF inductee Alicia Ashley by a close split decision in 2005.

Graf won by unanimous decision against Munoz in 2007. Graf’s final fight as a pro boxer was in 2019 with the WBO world super bantamweight title at stake.

Dina Thorslund successfully defended her WBO title against Graf by unanimous decision. Thorslund is currently the WBO and WBC world bantamweight champion.

Graf is certainly a future Hall of Famer herself and is among the greatest female boxers of all time. Graf completed her career as a professional boxer with a record of 29-8, 13 KOs.
