Meet some of the Biggest Stars in Women's Boxing
October 9, 2023

Women's sport has grown exponentially in the last decade or so. This summer, the world watched on as Spain lifted the FIFA Women's World Cup in the most-watched women's football tournament of all time. Over in the UFC, the likes of Amanda Nunes, Valentina Shevchenko, Alexa Grasso and Weili Zhang are consistently headlining cards.

In the early 2010s, former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey skyrocketed to prominence with a string of rapid-fire victories against contenders such as Alexa Davis, Sara McMann, Miesha Tate, and Bethe Correia. She quickly became one of the highest-paid athletes on the planet and shone a spotlight on women's combat sports that had not yet been seen. It has taken women's boxing a little while to catch up, but over the last couple of years, it has done exactly that and more. And here are the three main stars leading the charge.

Amanda Serrano

Amanda Serrano is a Puerto Rican fighter who has been making waves in the sport for years however, it wasn't until she signed a promotional deal with influencer Jake Paul that she truly took off. Much has been made of the Paul brothers and their foray into professional boxing. Jake's older brother Logan has an upcoming bout, a bout that the Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis odds have made the former a heavy 1/8 favourite. He has a previous history in the boxing ring, previously battling it out with fellow influencer KSI, who himself has been made an 11/4 underdog by the boxing betting  odds for his upcoming fight against Tommy Fury.

But it is his younger brother Jake who has truly made waves, defeating a plethora of former UFC icons before turning to dip his toes in the promotional world as well.
Serrano was the first fighter he invested in, and with her being a six-division world champion and boasting an incredible record of 48 wins and just two losses, it's clear to see why. The 34-year-old is a versatile boxer with a range of skills that make her a dangerous opponent for any fighter. She has a knockout percentage of nearly 70%, proving that she has both the technique and power to take down her opponents with ease.

Katie Taylor

There are plenty of massive upcoming fights to look forward to later this year including the aforementioned showdown between Paul and Danis. But perhaps no fight is more highly anticipated than Katie Taylor's rematch with her English conqueror Chantelle Cameron on November 25th.

The Irish sensation made her return to Dublin earlier this year for a meeting with the 32-year-old Brit, whose undisputed super lightweight world title was on the line. Much to the dismay of everyone in attendance, she was unable to handle her opponent's pressure fighting, eventually succumbing to a narrow unanimous decision defeat.

The 37-year-old fighter has an impressive record of 23 wins and
just one loss and is the former lightweight undisputed world champion. Taylor's style is a thing of beauty and grace, with lightning-fast footwork and razor-sharp punching accuracy. While she isn't a knockout artist, her natural talent has seen her rise through the ranks, but can they get her over the line in her upcoming make-or-break clash?

Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields is the face of women's boxing and is widely considered to be the greatest women's boxer of all time. She has a staggering professional record of 14 wins and no losses and is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. the 28-year-old is a ferocious fighter with a unique style that blends speed and power to perfection. She is already a world champion in three weight divisions and the current undisputed champion at both light-middleweight and middleweight. She has her eyes set on dominating the sport in the years to come.
