(MAR 10) Lani Daniels wins over the 100-year-old title, Australasian title, becoming the second New Zealand female and first heavyweight female to win the title. Next stop, World title fight on May 27th.

Some of New Zealand's best women boxers turned up to watch the fight between Lani Daniels vs Sequita Hemingway, including soon IBO World title contender Mea Motu, Retired WBO World Light Heavyweight champion Geovana Peres and now soon-to-be Daniels World title opponent, Alrie Meleisea. Granted, Geovana Peres and Mea Motu helped Daniels prepare for the fight, and Alrie Meleisea made notes for their future fight ahead.

The fight between Lani Daniels and Sequita Hemingway was a tough fight between the two boxers. Daniels looked slicked, using excellent head movent, forcing Hemingway to miss, using her experience and making Hemingway receive punishment when counterpunching. Hemingway, on the other hand, will be walking the majority of the fight, but when she got the chance she made Daniels pay with punishing shots.

The fight card was not announced but experts including Boxing judge Benjamin Watt, Mea Motu and Vasco Kovačević all estimate the scores to be 77 - 75 with the winner being Lani Daniels. Meaning Daniels on their scorecards won five out of the eight rounds of the fight. Which means it was a close fight.

Daniels now the winner of the fight extends her record to 7 - 2 - 2 with the fourth title of her career. Unfortunately, the belt itself did not make it in time for the fight night, however, the title belt will arrive next week. So what's next for both boxers?

Sequita Hemingway team looking to get back in the ring soon. The team has an event in August in Palmastern North, however, they would prefer to have Hemingway have a fight before then. There is some interest from Hemingway's team to fight against Trish Vaka, Nailini Helu, Ashley Campbell, Tinta Smith and Sarah Long.

As for Daniels, with this win, she has booked her ticket for May 27th at Eventfinda Stadium on Aucklands North Shore against Alrie Meleisea for the IBF World Heavyweight title. Over the next two weeks, the WBO World title might also be added into the mix as negotiations had begun to have that included. That fight will be televised on Sky Sports TV in New Zealand, and possibly FITE TV internationally.

First Lani Daniels will be heading to hamilton to take a week off before heading back into training back with John Conway.
