(APR 29) The man who
promoted two female world title fights in New Zealand, Bruce
Glozier of Glozier boxing, is back with a six pro fight card,
half of it being women's professional boxing. The headline of
the event will be Mea Motu attempting to capture her fourth New
Zealand title against former WBC ranked boxer Baby Nansen.
Bruce Glozier has accomplished a
lot in New Zealand boxing, including promoting two of Geovana
Peres's world title fights and holding events that showcase the
best of New Zealand women's boxing. On the 30th of April (NZT)
at ABA Stadium, this next show will be his 29th event with a
professional boxing fight on the card. The event will be Live
Streamed on PPV on the CSN NZ website at $30NZD.

The main event will be New Zealand Maori, Te Rarawa, and Ngāpuhi
descendent, Mea Motu (11 - 0 - 0 5KOs) will take on New Zealand
born, Samoan and Cook Island descendent Baby Nansen (9 - 4 - 1
1KOs) for the vacant New Zealand National (PBCNZ version) Super
Featherweight title.
Mea Motu made New Zealand history earlier in the year by
becoming the first female boxer to hold three New Zealand
national titles when she won the New Zealand featherweight title
against Ayisha Abied. This was after she already won the New
Zealand lightweight and New Zealand Super Lightweight titles
last year. If she wins this fight, not only would she capture
her fourth New Zealand national title, which will be on the way
to beating the men's record of seven titles over five weight
divisions, but also it would set her up to take on the current
New Zealand born champion Cherneka Johnson.

A world title fight between two New Zealand citizens has only
happened once before, where Brazilian born New Zealand citizen
Geovana Peres defeated New Zealand Maori Lani Daniels for the
WBO Light Heavyweight title back in March 2019; however, there
have never been two New Zealand Maori boxers to have ever fought
each other for a major world title. Tauranga-born Cherneka
Johnson is a descendent of Ngāti Ranginui, becoming the second
Maori to win a World title. A win for Mea Motu would set her up
for a potential history-making World title fight.

Her opponent is the combat sports fighter, Baby Nansen. Baby
Nansen is a former New Zealand National (PBCNZ version) Super
Lightweight and the current South Pacific (PBCNZ version) Super
Lightweight champion. If combining her MMA, Kickboxing, Muay
Thai, and professional boxing fights, it would accumulate well
over 60 fights in total. She comes from a massive combat sports
family with some names, including Commonwealth games boxer Fai
Falamoe, combat sports fighter Victoria Nansen, Kickboxing world
champion Antz Nansen and multiple kickboxing world champion Ray
Sefo.
Baby Nansen has achieved a lot in her cross combat career, but
in boxing alone, she has reached the top 40 in WBC, became the
first New Zealand female boxer to fight at Madison Square
Garden, and has battled with multiple notable names, including
the current IBF and WBO Super featherweight champion Mikaela
Mayer, WBC World title challenger Melissa St Vil and two-time
world title challenger Deanha Hobbs. It has been 18 months since
Baby Nansen has fought in a professional boxing ring. A win for
her will get her back onto the world stage in her dreams of
capturing the world title.
The second female fight on the card will feature Ngāpuhi
descendent, former World title challenger Lani Daniels (4 - 2 -
2), taking on Sequita Hemingway (1 - 0 - 0). This will be the
first fight for Lani Daniels in two and a half years. Lani
Daniels was initially scheduled to fight Alrie Meleisea on the
Joseph Parker vs Junior Far undercard early last year for a
world title, however, due to poor boxing politics, the fight
fell through. Lani Daniels is currently ranked 9th in the WBA
despite being inactive for so long. A win for her would surely
put her in world title contention again, possibly against the
current World Heavyweight Champion Hanna Gabriels.
She will be taking on Sequita Hemingway. Sequita Hemingway made
the biggest upset in New Zealand female boxing history in 2021
when she took on WBA and WBC ranked boxer Alrie Melesiea and won
on her debut. Ever since then, she has been trying to sign up
for big fights, however, due to covid, she has been unable to
keep herself active. Sequita was a professional rugby player
before she started competing in boxing. A win for her would give
her a second win in a row against a world-ranked boxer, which
would surely jump her up on the world rankings.

The final female fight on the card will be between New Zealand
Maori and Niuean boxer Karen Te Ruki-Pasene taking on Ayisha
Abied. Karen Te Ruki-Pasene is a descendent of Waikato Tainui on
her New Zealand Maori side and a descendent of Alofi on her Niue
side. Karen is a former New Zealand National (PBCNZ version)
Super Lightweight champion.
Other fights will include a heavyweight fight between Joe Ageli
and Tino Honey, with Tino fighting for the first time in four
years, a heavyweight fight between Titi Motusaga and Antz Amouta,
and the co-main event of the evening, Viliami Liavaa vs Joshua
Tai.
