Amaris "Diamond Girl" Quintana Wins by TKO over Luz Martinez for the WBC Intercontinental Title
July 27, 2018

(JULY 27) On Saturday night in at the Caliente Casino, in Tijuana, Baja, California, Amaris "Diamond Girl" Quintana, now 12-3-2 (4KO), of San Diego, California, won by a second round TKO over Luz Martinez, of Ensenada, Baja California, in the second round.  The bout was scheduled for ten rounds, and they were fighting for the WBC Intercontinental Minimum (105 lb) Title.

This was Quintana's third fight in her "come back" since having nearly a two-year absence from the sport due to a serious medical condition.  Quintana said that the last two years have been a "roller coaster" from going from a huge loss against Kenia Enriquez in 2016----to having to go through heart surgery.

Quintana, 28 years old, has been boxing professionally since 2009, when she made her pro debut against Gloria Salas, with a four-round unanimous decision.

In her return to the sport, she fought on March 24, 2018, winning by a second round TKO over Dulce Galaviz, then fighting just a month later, and again winning over Carole Madrid by RTD in the fourth round.

Quintana said about her fight last Saturday, "I was blessed to come out with a second round TKO and to become the new WBC intercontinental minimum weight champion."

Rick Beardsley said of Quintana after the fight, "Extreme pressure can crush some people to dust, but turns some into DIAMONDS!
I knew I saw a special something when I offered to sponsor this young lady [Quintana] five years ago..."

"I thank God for the struggles and the road bumps to have lead me to where I need to be know with my manager, who did not stop believing in me and never let me give up, and doing his all to help me get back on my game to leading me to the right trainers with Juan Estrada and @angel.the1st who have pushed me and motivated me to be a better fighter and work to get me to the level I need to be," added Quintana.
