Highly Regarded Veteran Boxer Martha Salazar announces Retirement
Source/PR
March 14, 2017

(MAR 14)  Due to doctor’s advice, Former WBC Heavy Weight Champion Martha Salazar is announcing retirement. After 25 years in boxing Salazar was able to finally reach her goal of winning the WBC Heavy Weight World Title. Along her journey to the green strap she won WIBA, WBO Heavy Weight World titles.

Salazar says, “I am sad about this but life happens. I love boxing, it’s so much a part of my life.”

We are pleased to announce that Salazar will not be leaving the boxing community but will transitioning to an Ambassador for the WBC Cares. Jill Diamond who is the heart of WBC Cares program stated, “A person of Martha's talent and heart doesn't have to fight to prove she's a champion.”

Martha Salazar says, “transitioning to Ambassador for WBC is an incredible accomplishment and will be a great experience for me to help others. I love my WBC family and I am so happy I will be continuing to be a force in boxing. I am excited about our first project which is visiting and bringing exposure to Rock Steady a boxing program, started by my cut man Freddy Silva, that helps people with Parkinson’s.

We will be visiting them March 17, 2017 and bringing exposure to this powerful program.
