(JAN 9, 2013) WBAN received a latest
update on retired world champion Kathy Rivers, who boxed professionally
from 1998 to 2007, and accumulated a 14-5-3 (5KO) record.
She held many
world title championships fighting anywhere from super
middleweight to heavyweight.
Kathy told WBAN, "Since I retired
from boxing, Bert Rodriguez and I got married
and moved to Bartow, Florida. We stayed there for about a year.
I also started a personal
training business out of my house in Bartow. I did that for
about a
year and then we decided to
move to Destin, Florida. Destin, we opened a Crossfit gym. It was the
best decision! We absolutely love it here. We have two beautiful
kids,
boy and girl. I included
a picture of them too!
"We have been in business now for 2 1/2 years and have such a
great
bunch of people at the gym.
I started doing Crossfit competitions last year and fell in love
with
it. Of course, that boxing bug
is always around. We do incorporate boxing into our classes and
people love it."
"I would love to get back in the ring again and really see the
difference in my boxing since I have
been doing Crossfit. The training is very high intensity and
goes
well with boxing."
"I had put it out on Facebook to a few of the girls looking for
opponents (Ramsey, Ewell) but
haven't gotten any solid response so I just figured this was
God's way
of telling me to let it
go, but then I received an email from Salazar's trainer, so we
will
see what happens."
"If its meant to be, it will happen. If not, I'm gonna keep
competing
in the crossfit competitions
and see how far I can get. I placed second in the master's
division
in the Garage Games, so
that was a good start", add Rivers.
It was great to talk with Rivers,
and get the latest scoop on what she is up to---so boxing fans,
you just may see Rivers re-enter the sport! By the
way----she is a great boxer!
