(JAN 1) WBAN had an opportunity
this week to talk with Mia "The Knockout" St. John, and she gave
us an update on what has been going on with her life in and out
of the ring, and what see anticipates for 2013!

St. John said, "After having a horrible
2011 with the passing of my mother, 2012 was a great one. I
finally got my rematch with Christy Martin and won the WBC World
Title, then signed a commentating deal with K-1 Rising. Truly a
wonderful year!"
" I expect even bigger and better things for 2013.
While at the WBC convention in Cancun, we discussed fighting
Sharon Anyos for the WBC Diamond belt. If it materializes, I
will be ecstatic, but if not, there are a couple of girls I have
thought about fighting"
"I would love to leave boxing, regaining
my title. If that doesn't happen, I won't be disappointed. I did
everything I ever wanted to do. I have my foundation, El Saber es Poder/Knowledge is Power for inner city kids and that
fulfills me. I also love the commentating, almost as much as I
love boxing. Well... almost, but not quite. [Lol]
"I did promise my
family I would retire soon so that weighs heavily on me. I'm in
the best shape of my life, but at my age the injuries are plenty
and the damage can be irreversible. I have friends that suffer
from pugilist dementia and since I've had more than 60 pro
fights, I worry about that all the time. For my family, boxing
is not worth the risk. The question will be, is it for me?",
added St. John.
