Valley braces
itself for the biggest night of Prizefighting in Years!
September 18, 2007

(SEPT 18) LEMOORE, CA - In what promises to be a night of Championship professional boxing that will forever change the lives of the participants, Valley boxing fans are turning out to be the biggest winners already. The Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, in association with Goossen Tutor Promotions presents “Fall Brawl” on Thursday night September 27th highlighted by three WBC Title fights.

In the Co-Main Event of the night Wasco heavyweight, Manuel “El Toro” Quezada who’s career has been resurrected since signing with Christian Printup and the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino two years ago faces his biggest , toughest challenge to date but with great rewards attached. Quezada (20-4, 13 KOs) is a slick moving, aggressive body puncher with a very high boxing IQ.

On September 27th he will stand across the ring from a giant of a man in “Big” Rick Dyer (13-1, 13 KOs) of Roland, Oklahoma. Dyer stands 6’9” and often switches from orthodox to southpaw. The 10 Round bout will be for the Interim WBC CABOFE Heavyweight Championship a vacant Title previously held by Former World Title Challenger Fres Oquendo. The winner of this bout not only walks away with Championship gold but a Top 25 ranking in the World Boxing Council (WBC). The current WBC World Champion is Oleg Maskaev. “I am very proud of Manuel’s development. He’s a guy who always had the requisite physical tools to succeeded in the sport. The key is that he’s really grown as a person and his mind set is perfect. He is focused, in the best shape of his life and hungry. He is going to make significant waves in the heavyweight division on September 27th.” Christian Printup, Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino Entertainment Director.

The other two World Boxing Council World Title fights are in the very competitive Women’s ranks and pair the top women in each division. In the first bout multiple World Champion and Valley favorite Jessica Rakoczy (27-2, 10 KOs), who has been a fixture in Lemoore for over the past five years since signing with The Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino will defend her WBC Lightweight World Title in a 10 Round showdown against the former Interim Champion Ann Marie Saccurato (12-2, 5 KOs) of White Plains, New York.  Rakoczy and Saccurato have one common opponent in GBU Light Welterweight Champion Belinda Laracuente. Saccurato lost an 8 Round Split decision to Laracuente on August 26th, 2005 and Rakoczy who has been called the Floyd Mayweather of Women’s boxing due to her slick movement, defense and effective punching from a variety of angles soundly defeated Laracuente via 10 Round Unanimous on April 1st 2005.   (WBAN World Ratings has Rakoczy and Saccurato ranked #1 Rakoczy, #2 Saccurato)

In what Women’s boxing insiders consider the equivalent of Kobe vs Lebron playing one on one, Watsonville’s reigning WBC Minimumweight World Champion Carina “La Reina” Moreno (13-1, 4 KOs) the #1 rated fighter in the world will lock horns with the #2 rated 105 pound fighter Hollie “Hotstuff” Dunaway (20-5, 10 KOs) the current WIBF, WIBC and WIBA World Champion of St. Louis, MO in a 10 Round bout for Moreno’s WBC World Title. Moreno won the WBC Title on May 17th at the Tachi Palace in a brutal and all out demolition of former champion Nanako Kikuchi of Japan in a bout which saw both women stand toe to toe for 10 full rounds with Moreno landing over 1,000 punches against the relentless warrior champion. Dunaway defeated Stephanie Dobbs by Unanimous decision at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino on February 22, 2007 a fight in which she displayed uncanny speed, power and counter punching.  (WBAN has Moreno ranked #1 as a strawweight, and Dunaway #2 as a junior flyweight).

The rest of the card features the top rated American heavyweight Tony “The Tiger” Thompson (30-1, 18 KOs) the #1 rated WBO Contender taking on Cliff Couser (26-12, 14 KOs) in a very dangerous heavyweight match up. Along with the three title fights and the Thompson versus Couser bout a host of Valley favorites will be in action, here is the complete card:

• Hector Alatorre of Tulare (14-2, 5 KOs) vs Henry Mitchell of Los Angeles (6-6-1, 1 KO) in an 8 Round Junior Welterweight bout.

• Saul Lomas of Fresno (6-0, 3 KOs) vs Julio Chavez of Albuquerque (6-3-1, 2 KOs) in a 6 Round Lightweight bout

• Frank Mondejar of Fresno (14-3, 13 KOs) takes on Sheldon Callum (6-15-3, 2 KOs) of San Francisco in a 6 Round Super Middleweight bout.

• James “The Preacher” Kindell of Tulare (4-1, 4 KOs) takes on Brad Hill (7-6-1, 5 KOs) of Russellville, Arkansas in a 6 Round Light middleweight bout.

• Joaquin “Paqui” Marquez of Madera the last man to ever beat Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward in boxing competition (2-0-1, 2 KOs) takes on Ray Craig of Oakland (4-2, 2 KOs) in a 6 Round Light Middleweight bout.

Tickets for this unparalleled night of professional boxing are still available and can be purchased online through www.tickets.com, over the phone by calling 1-800-225-2277 or in person at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino gift shop.
