(JULY 9) WBAN had an opportunity to talk
with Cindy Serrano earlier today by phone, and she talked about her
latest fight with Missy Fiorentino, and about a cut that she
incurred in the second round, that ended up having to require 20
plus stitches after the fight.
Serrano also sent an open letter to WBAN to publish, for those she
wanted to talk with after the fight, but was unable to do so.
Serrano said the following:
"I would like to publicly thank Lisa Elovich of Pugnacious
Promotions, Jill Diamond with the NABF and Missy Fiorentino for the
wonderful opportunity to challenge her for the title----they are all
great women. Missy is a terrific
Fighter; we knew she was going to be going into the fight. I
promised WBAN and my fans that it was going to be a great fight and
I believe we delivered. I was mentally and physically ready for a
war. I came to fight and that's what I did. I sustained a nasty cut
on my eyelid early in the fight that bothered me throughout but I
make no excuses. Getting into this battle I knew things like this
could happen. I always
say that I'm in the hurt business so they go together. Missy by far
is one of the nicest and most humble fighter I have ever met. I know
she is going to represent us female fighters well. Congratulation is
in order. I was taken to get my eye stitched and didn't get a chance
to thank anyone. To my fans my team and everyone who made this
possible thank you a
million. I hope I didn't disappoint anyone I fought from the
Heart. God Bless, Cindy "CHECKMATE" Serrano"
