(DEC 27) WBAN would like to congratulate Emiko Raika of Japan, for being named,  WBAN's first fighter of the month for 2007!  This month Raika fought an exciting bout with Terri Blair winning the bout by a decision.  Blair, has also had a spectacular year in 2006. She fought the "most avoided" boxer Sumya "The Island Girl" Anani twice, stopping her in both fights! 

This year our 12 women's boxers who were chosen for  "Fighter of the month 2006" are the following:

In January, Miriam Lamare of France; In February, Jackie Nava of Mexico; In March, Belinda Laracuente of Puerto Rico who fights out of the USA;  In April, Terri Blair of the United States; In May, Laura Serrano of Mexico; In June,  Alejandra Oliveras of Argentina; In July,  Melissa Hernandez from Puerto Rico by way of the Bronx, NY;  In August, Teresa Perozzi of Bermuda; In September, Elena Reid of the United States; In October, Sharon Anyos of Australia;  In November,  Angelica Martinez of Dallas, Texas, USA; and lastly in December, top amateur from Ireland, Katie Taylor.
