(JUNE 9) Anita Christensen, of Denmark,
made her comeback in Aarhus tonight, after a nine-month layoff
forced on her by injuries. She fought Jane Kavulani of Kenya in a
six round bantamweight bout, and won by a unanimous decision in
convincing style. On all judges scores were 60-53.
Christensen was in control throughout
the fight and caught Kavulani with several hard right hands. A left
right combination forced the Kenyan had to take a count at the end
of the second round. Kavulani did not have anything in her weaponry
that could threaten the more experienced Christensen---so the
outcome of the fight was never in doubt.
Christensen announced after the fight,
that she is determined to regain her world championship belt, and is
eager to get back into the ring after the summer interval.
