(NOV 21) First of all, I would also like
to congratulate Chevelle Hallback and her team on her defeat Friday
night on the Ring of their Own card.
Unfortunately, I cannot say that your fight on November 18 was great
because it simply felt like a sparring match, and 3000 people that
attended that evening would agree with me as well.
I can see that my statement to the Edmonton Sun has upset your Team,
but the statement that I made is not far from the truth. The records
show that Chevelle is not a puncher, she barely knocks out 1/3 of
her opponents.
I would also like to state that neither Jelena nor myself ever
refused to fight Ms. Hallback, we were never offered nor did I
discuss having Jelena fight Chevelle, therefore we never turned the
fight down.
By looking at your record I can see that you have only fought in
your hometown once. You have been a professional boxer for just
about 9 years and you do not have a dedicated fan base in your
hometown nor do you have a promoter who would keep bringing you
back.
Instead of being upset with me over the statement I made, Team
Hallback should be thanking me for giving Chevelle the opportunity
to fight in Edmonton on Jelena's card.
It has been stated by many, that a lot of people want to fight
Jelena; she can draw a huge crowd in Edmonton, and on pay-per-view.
We will take on any fight at any time with out a problem, because we
do not turn anyone down, as long as the money is right and it runs
on our schedule not one that is dictated by Ms. Hallback or her
team. The only problem is where will the fight take place,
considering Chevelle can't fill a phone booth up never mind an
entire arena.
With that said
If Mr. Gottlieb was assured by the WBC rep that Jelena's first
defense against the title will be mandatory against Ms. Hallback,
hopefully they will be the ones promoting the show, because I just
want to make it clear, as a promoter I will not be bringing Ms.
Hallback to back Edmonton to fight.
Just one more question for you Chevelle, if this issue was bothering
you that much, why didn’t you have the guts to mention it to us at
the press conference or even better at the weigh in? Or were you
hoping that your fellow American would take the titles home with
her?
