(NOV 1) Lightweight Franchesca Alcanter (15-6-1) of Kansas City, Kansas
has boxing in her blood. Her grandfather, Joey Alcanter and great uncles
"Baby Louie" and Pete Alcanter were title contenders’ 70 years ago yet
never reached their goal. Now decades later Franchesca is on her own
title quest. She faces Jelena Mrdjenovich (13-1-0) on November 18 in "A
Ring of Their Own" World Title Wave in Edmonton, Alberta.
Going in to the fight with Mrdjenovich, Franchesca realizes the task
before her is not an easy one but that only makes her more determined.
" This is gonna be the biggest challenge I’ve put myself into-timing is
everything and this is something I‘m ready for and have prepared for.
It’s not going to be easy. This is another chance I’m taking and I’m
gonna give it my all. AND I’m looking forward to it. I saw Jelena’s tape
against Layla McCarter, and she is not somebody to take lightly. And
we’ve got similar styles, so it will be interesting. But my fights have
always been the best fight of the night and on November 18, that fact
will remain."
World Title Wave will take place November 18 at the Shaw Conference
Center in Edmonton and will be available live on pay per view in Canada
and world wide via broad band distribution. A Ring of Their Own is the ONLY all women’s
boxing series. It is promoted by Rock & Sock Productions and is
distributed on cable TV and via satellite to over 30 million homes in
the US and Canada.
