Tonight: Three title fights in Providence

(PROVIDENCE (August 26, 2005) - "CES' Prime Time Fights" features three title fights tonight (Friday, August 26), headlined by World Boxing Council USNBC super middleweight champion Joey "KO Kid" Spina's (16-0, 11 KOs) first title defense against dangerous challenger Anwar Oshana (23-4, 13 KOs),  at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.

Jimmy Burchfield's Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc (CES) in association with Mohegan Sun presents "CES' Prime Time Fights".

"We have a tremendous show tomorrow night," promoter Jimmy Burchfield said. "There are three fights that could all be main events in their own right."

Spina-Oshana is the 12-round main event. The WBC rates Spina, fighting out of Providence, No. 31. He trains in Las Vegas with former world light heavyweight champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. Oshana, from Chicago, is the former Illinois State and IBF Great Lakes Regional super middleweight champion.

In the 10 round co-feature, unbeaten Providence cruiserweight Matt Godfrey (8-0, 5 KOs), rated No. 13 by the NABF, squares off against NABF 11th rated Willie Herring (13-3-3, 2 KOs) for the vacant USNBC cruiserweight championship.

Former world champion Jaime "Hurricane" Clampitt (15-3-1, 6 KOs) faces Shelby "Girl" Walker (7-4-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant IWBF lightweight crown in their 10-round title fight.

In a Special Heavyweight Attraction, 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada (3-0, 1 KO), from providence, fights in his first six-round match versus Earl Ladson (10-6, 7 KOs), a late replacement for injured Jerry Butler.

Also scheduled to fight on the card is Manchester featherweight Matt "Sharp Shooter" Remillard (3-0, 2 KOs), two-time Everlast Under-19 National champion in his toughest match against undefeated Ricky Alexander (3-0, 2 KOs); Providence super lightweight "Steamin'" Josh Beeman (3-1-2, 2 KOs) versus Ricardo Rosas (2-1, 1 KO); Cranston super featherweight Missy "The Fury" Fiorentino (12-1, 6 KOs) vs. TBA and Pawtucket via Puerto Rico super lightweight Eddie Soto (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Eric "Fast Hands" Burke. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

The series will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on CN8, The Comcast Network, Cox Sports and other cable outlets.

CN8, The Comcast Network will air the Aug. 26 show as two television specials. CN8 plans to feature Spina, Clampitt and Remillard on SUNDAY, August 28 from 9:00-11:00 PM/ET, and the network plans to highlight Godfrey, Estrada and Fiorentino on SUNDAY, September 18, 9:00-11:00 PM/ET. CN8's Ed Berliner will provide blow-by-blow commentary and former five-time world champion Vinny Paz will serve as color analyst. The six-fight CES package is part of CN8's Primetime Fights series, a monthly show featuring New England and Mid-Atlantic boxing events broadcast into 7.1 million homes from Maine to Virginia.

Cox Sports will air the first broadcast SUNDAY, August 28 8-10 PM/ET, and the second segment at a date and time to be determined.

Tickets, priced at $152 (Jimmy's Platinum Club - LIMITED); $102 (Gold Ringside), $52 (reserved ringside) and $30 (general admission/reserved), are on sale now. PROVIDENCE PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES & OFFICIAL WEIGHTS

PRESSER QUOTES

Joey "KO Kid" Spina: "This is my belt. I take it everywhere I go. When I go to the gym, it's in my bag; it's with me whenever I leave my house. I've seen Oshana fight on TV. He's rugged, durable and stays right in front. A lot of punches are going to be thrown."

Anwar Oshana: "Tomorrow night you're going to see one of the best fights seen in a long time."

Matt Godfrey: "Willie comes to fight every time. I thank him a lot for coming from Florida to fight me in my backyard. I can't tell you what you're going to see because I don't want to give anything away. We will leave it all in the ring. Expect to see a great night of boxing."

Willie Herring: "Tomorrow you're going to see a great fight. I'm quite sure Matt Godfrey trained hard and has dreamed about this like I have. I've traveled a long way to get here and I know what I'm up against."

Jaime Clampitt: "I'm in great shape and I'm ready to go. I'm bringing the world title back to Rhode Island."

Shelby Walker: "I want to thank Jimmy Burchfield and my promoter, Howard Davis, Jr., who brings so much to the table for me. I respect him so much. I plan on putting on a very good show tomorrow night."

Jason Estrada: "I really plan on just boxing in the purest sense you can see. There'll be a little flash, hand speed and power. I don't know much about my opponent, but I respect him for coming here."
