WBAN received the latest update on Cristy Nickel
By Tom Moraetes
Press Release
June 30, 2005

(JUN 30) I would like to introduce to you the newest member of Augusta Boxing Club, Cristy Nickel. Cristy is a professional boxer out of Memphis with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses with 5 knockouts. She began boxing a little over a year ago and quickly won the hearts of the Memphians. I met Cristy at the Roy Jones, Jr. fight in Memphis last September. We have been friends ever since and I've been present at each one of Cristy's fights in the Memphis area.

Cristy had been having some coaching problems and I noticed her abilities leveled. News of Cristy "Code Red" Nickel spread like wildfire and she was offered a world title fight in Beijing, China. Most fighters don't get the chance of a lifetime like this one. I contacted Cristy and invited her to come to Augusta and train for the fight this summer. Knowing the reputation of the Augusta Boxing Club, she accepted the invitation and moved here a month ago. Since she has been here, her skills have gone through the roof.

Dean Chance is the president of the International Boxing Association. He said, "We are thrilled to have Cristy Nickel fighting for our highly coveted belt. We are confident she will represent us well and we look forward to her win in Beijing." She has adapted well to the program and has even become a boxing coach in our youth program. She loves the city of Augusta and is considering making Augusta her permanent home. Cristy says, "I am so totally excited about working with the Augusta Boxing Club and going to China. Winning a world title is my dream and I can't wait to climb into that ring in Beijing."

We would like to welcome Cristy to Augusta and we're proud to have another world champion athlete come out of Augusta Boxing Club.
