Public Challenge!

(JUN 19) Last night in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Jelena Mrdjenovich
won a unanimous decision over Layla McCarter. McCarter broke
her radial bone in the forearm in the fourth round, but continued all the
last rounds. McCarter fought with one arm through those later rounds.
McCarter was to fight Holly Holm as a challenger when Holm defends
her IBA World Junior Welterweight belt next week in Albuquerque, New
Mexico--but is now out of the fight.
Team McCarter told WBAN, "We came back from the hospital and Layla broked
her forearm in two pieces, she will need surgery as soon we get back to Las
Vegas, she will probably be out for three months."
Sumya Anani told WBAN, making a public challenge to Holm: "I will
accept a fight with Holly Holm as a challenger for her upcoming fight.
Holly, you're the IBA 140 champ, I'm the WIBA 140 champ...I'll put my title
on the line too. This can be one small step towards unification. Your team
has rejected me before. Let's make it happen this time."
