BIG Weekend for Women’s Boxing!

(JUN 9) WBAN will be extremely busy this weekend with keeping up with all the women’s boxing action that will be taking place!

On Friday, June 10, in Detroit, Michigan,
Kara Ro will be fighting Belinda Laracuente for the 135-lb WIBA Lightweight World Title in a 10-round bout. Also, Angela Simpson vs. Crystal Davis; In Chicago, Illinois, Rita Figueroa will face Jasmine Davis on the undercard; At the La Villita Plaza, in San Antonio, Texas, Bianca Ledezma makes her pro debut and will be fighting Deshawnta Burton, 0-2-0 (0KO), of San Antonio, Texas. And starting on this date, the Third Annual Ringside Augusta National Junior Boys-Girls Summer Boxing Classic, presented by COMCAST will take place. Augusta, Georgia is host of this fantastic event, and Cristy Nickel  will be a commentator. (This tournament will take place on June 11th also.)

On Saturday, June 11, the biggest fight of the weekend will take place in Washington D.C., (9:00 pm ET, 6PM PT) when MCI Center
Laila Ali will fight Erin Toughill, in a WIBA title fight as one of the televised bouts on Pay-Per-View, with Mike Tyson fighting Kevin McBride in the mainliner. In Gorzow Wielkopolski, Poland, on the undercard, Julia Tkaczyk vs. Elena Miftode; At the Madison Square Garden, in New York City, NY, Agnieszka Rylik of Poland; In a co-main, at the Harrah's North Kansas City Convention Center, in Kansas City, Missouri, firefighter Mary Elizabeth Ortega will be fighting Terri Moss for the Jr. Flyweight World Boxing Title.

On Sunday, June 12,  at the Ohkay Casino, in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, Audrey Vela of Austin, Texas will meet IFBA Super Bantamweight Champion Jackie Chavez at the Ohkay Casino, and
Mia St. John  will be fighting Liz Drew in a 10-round title fight for the IFBA Lightweight Championship. And Lastly in Tokyo, Japan, there will be SIX women’s bout on a card that include, Rie Fujimoto vs. Mayumi Kubo; Riyo Togo vs. Hanako Shieda, pro debut; Miyukikonda vs. Kumiko Nishida; Nanako Kikuchi vs. Nao Ikeyama; Tomoko Koga vs. Jet Izumi; and Satoko Kamimura vs. Hitomi Hayashi.
