(APR 12) Women's Boxing's youngest world champion Juhee Kim of South Korea,
has issued a challenge to former IFBA Flyweight Champion Maribel Zurita to
fight for Kim's 108 pound title. Kim made it clear to her promoters in Korea
that she wanted Zurita, after reading about Zurita's dissatisfaction with
the outcome of Zurita's fight against Shin Hee Choi in China.
"Maribel Zurita won her world title in Korea, but when she felt she was
treated unfairly in China, she complained loudly about the South Korean
judging and referee" said Kim. "I want to give her a chance to return to
Korea and fight right away, so she will see that we are fair and honest in
the way we treat foreign competitors" Kim continued.
Zuirta lost her IFBA Flyweight Title when her fight with Shin Hee Choi was
stopped after a headbutt in the 8th round of their world title fight in
Shenyang, China. The IFBA has ruled that Zurita is the mandatory challenger
for Choi's first title defense after reviewing the Referee's pre-mature
decision to stop the fight. |
