(AUG 26)
Laila Ali moves up in weight to challenge the newly crowned WIBA Light Heavyweight Champ, Gwendolyn O’Neil of Guyana.

On Friday September 24th, 2004 at 7:00 pm, Absoloot Entertainment is bringing World Championship Boxing to the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The Triple Crown Super Middleweight Champion, Laila Ali (18-0 15 KO’s) will move up to light heavyweight to challenge the newly crowned WIBA Light Heavyweight champ
Gwendolyn O'Neil. The two ladies will meet to do battle for the vacant IWBF Light Heavyweight World Title. There will be both male and female fights on the under card. And in a special attraction making his comeback is former Light Heavyweight Champion of the World, William “Chocolate” Guthrie.

Over the last year, Laila has appeared on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights twice and each time it was a ratings success. Her first outing in November of 2002 against
Valerie Mahfood produced the 3rd highest rating of the year for ESPN’s highly rated boxing series. Ali was the first woman to be the main event on an ESPN telecast and has drawn tremendous fan support wherever she fights.

Laila has also been the main event on the two highest rated pay-per-view events in the history of women’s boxing. In June of 2000, Laila battled with Jacqui Frazier and more than 100,000 buys were registered in what was billed as ALI-FRAZIER IV “THE DAUGHTERS”. (The other with
Christy Martin -excerpt).

Laila was just recently nominated as “Boxer of the Year” for the coveted ESPY Awards hosted by ESPN. Her achievements in women’s boxing are second to none and she is the fighter who is most recognized when it comes to the sport of women’s boxing. Like her famous father, the 5’10” Ali has quick feet, a stiff jab and a natural self-confidence. Laila is living up to the hype successfully with 18 wins, 15 coming by way of knockout.

Laila has appeared in numerous magazines such as Fitness, Jet, People, Vogue and Sports Illustrated. She has also made guest appearances on Good Morning America, The Today Show and BET. She also recently appeared on “Cold Pizza”, “Strong Medicine”, “Hollywood Squares”, The Wayne Brady Show”, “The Other Half” with Dick Clark, and the TV Show “Girlfriends Ali has now become the Undisputed Champion of the World. She wants to be recognized as a champion in the boxing world and as a humanitarian that is making a difference in people’s lives.
