Vanburkirk had something about KOing fighters in the second round, because she made the
headlines when she knocked out Julie Mullen, the Nevada State champion in the second
round. MULLEN was ranked number three contender for the world title at the time.

Vanbuskirk then went against Dulcie Lucas, and the fight was a TKO
in the fifth round, when Lucas did not come out for the
sixth! 1979 |

VanBuskirk
continued her winning streak when she went against hard-hitting Dulcie
Lucas. The fight
took place in Los Angeles, California to decide the California State championship. BRITT
definitely was not the favored fighter in this match due to Lucas reputation. BRITT
finished Lucas off in the fifth round, when she did not come out to fight the six round.

BRITT who now lives in
Illinois. After she stopped boxing, to stay in shape she played on the women's rugby
team. She also did some boxing exhibitions in Chicago. In 1994, she worked
with
Chris Kreuz for the
Christy Martin
fight. She was
Chris' corner for the fight. In January, 1995, she opened her own gym, and
developed exercise programs, trained male and female fighters and promoted boxing on an
amateur level through USA boxing. Her boxing club grew to 17 members, while the gym
itself had over 100 members.
At the
gym, BRITT worked with kids from age 10 to the seniors, age 50 and up. BRITT is also
in the process of attempting to organize a PAL (Police Activity League) program. She
is still active in boxing and she still trains fighters. BRITT was
a true pioneer in women's boxing, and is still going strong today! |
