(NOV 23) Well, this last Friday, there was another "Matchup" that
almost fell short of the radar screen when Mary Elizabeth Ortega, a
boxer with an extensive boxing background, with a 26-2-1 (5KO) record,
fought a four-rounder against a boxer who had just one win under her belt,
along with five losses.
That’s right folks…on November 19, 2004, at the Union Station, in
Kansas City, Missouri, Ortega, 115, won a four-round unanimous decision over
Leslie McNamara, 118.
BUT again, and what can only be described as "mystery matchmaking"
this was not the FIRST time Ortega fought McNamara.
Ortega JUST fought McNamara on September 22, 2004, defeating her the first
time out, with McNamara coming into that FIRST match NO wins.
It REALLY makes one want to scratch their head in wonderment of some of
these illogical matches, and it also makes one wonder how a boxer as in
Ortega's case, can feel any pride or accomplishment to get into these
lop-sided matches. |
