February 1, 2014 - Polanco Forum, Mexico City, Mexico

Mexican champion light flyweight Esmeralda "La Joya" Moreno, now 25-7-1 (9KO), of Mexico City,  lost by a close split decision in what was a bloody battle against Maribel "Pantera"  Ramirez this Saturday night at the Polanco Forum of Mexico City. From the very beginning, both Ramirez and Moreno came out quick throwing a barrage of punches, with accurate and powerful combinations----but during this fight it was Ramirez's superiority that was clear throughout the fight.  Both fighters were forward without measuring consequences, to cause a public outcry. The intensity of their shots made  a nose bleed on both fighters.  At the end of the eight rounds scores were 77-76, 75-77 and 75-77 in favor of Maribel Ramirez decreeing a split decision.
