Eva Wahlstrom
took a unanimous ten round decision over Agota Ilko in their EBU super featherweight title bout.

March 31, 2012 - Emerald Queen Casino on the "Battle at the Boat" boxing card, in Tacoma, Washington
In an entertaining bout, Lisette Medal, now 6-1-1, of California, won a fifth round unanimous decision over Sarah Pucek, now 4-2-1.

Junior featherweight Nydia Feliciano, 120, won a four round unanimous decision over Mikayla Nebal, 120½.

March 31, 2012 -   Villa Gobernador Galvez, Argentina
Daniela Bermudez won a 10-round majority decision over Mayerlin Rivas. The two were fighting for the WBA Interim bantamweight title. Video below of fight.
 

March 31, 2012 - Gimnasio Auditorio in Los Cabos, Mexico
 Ana Maria Torres (28-3-1, 16KOs) stopped Colombian fighter Maria Andrea Miranda (14-8) in the fourth round to retain her super flyweight championship of the World Boxing Council at the Auditorium Gym in Los Cabos, Mexico. After taking punishment for three rounds, Miranda sat on her stool when the fourth round started and she was counted out.  Ava Knight scored a tenth round knockout of mandatory challenger Hongfah Buamas Tor to retain the flyweight championship of the International Boxing Federation (IBF). Ava Knight did a great job staying busy the whole fight, landing crisp, hard punches to the Thai. Hongfah Tor Buamas tried to retaliate on many ocassions, being succesful in many of them, but her punches lacked the power to hurt Ava or tilt the fight on her favor. With this, Ava Knight's mandatory defense is set and she will be looking forward to fighting the big names of the division.  Fight Report    Weigh-in photos and story

Junior lightweight Calixta Salgado, 128½, won by a first round KO over  Jenis Hernandez, 130.  Also, in another bout, Yolis Marrugo Franco, 127, won by a first round TKO over Omaira Alvarado, 130.

Featherweight Catherine Phiri, 123¼, won by TKO in fourth round over Hamisa Willy, 123.

Featherweight Marietta Kowalczyk, 20, of Hamburg, Germany, and Jessica Heymann, pro debut,  fought to a four-round majority decision. Final judges scores were 38-38, 38-38, and 39-38.

Junior bantamweight Melanie Codling won a four-round unanimous decision over Nicki Bigwood.  In a second bout, welterweight Sarah Howett, 141¾, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Daniella Smith, 140¼.

Eliana Maria Lencina and Anabel Amarillo, fought to a six-round draw by points.   Amarillo's still remains winless, and had not fought since  March of 2009.  Not a bad comeback after being inactive for quite awhile.

Cecilia Comunales, 135, TKO'd Maribel Santana in the first round, 133,. The two were fighting for the WBA Lightweight world title.  In a story that we posted, Over 22,000 people in Paysandu, Uruguay, were waiting to greet new WBA Female Lightweight World Champion Cecilia "La Reina" Comunales today, as she arrived home after her title-winning victory Saturday night in Panama.   In another female bout, Migdalia Asprilla, 125½,  TKO6 Paola Rojas, 130; Alys Sanchez, 126, won a six-round unanimous decision over Paulina Cardona, 126.

March 26, 2012 - Boxing Hall Diana, in Sofia, Bulgaria
Super flyweight Galina Koleva Ivanova, now 12-7-3, won against a 0-5 boxer, Tonka Shalakova. Shalakova retired at the end of round one. The fight was scheduled for six rounds, Educated guess with this matchup: Mismatch.

March 25, 2012 - Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
Super bantamweight Emika Himuro, 118¾ won by a fourth round TKO over pro debuter Miyu Tsukishima, 116¼. The fight was scheduled for four rounds.

March 24, 2012 - Centre sportif Jacky Leroy, Flobecq, Hainaut, Belgium
Corina Carlescu,105¼,
won by a fifth round RTD over Yolaine Lin De Lauf, 107½, for the vacant EBU flyweight title. Bewildering why this fight was for any title.  Lauf rated #35 on boxrec, and Carlescu rated #13.

March 24, 2012 - Stadtwerke Arena Münster, Münster, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany
Featherweight Elina Tissen, 14-2-0, of Germany, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Doris Koehler, now 8-10-1. The two were fighting for the GBC, GBU, and WIBF featherweight titles.

March 24, 2012 -  Ystad, Sweden
Super featherweight Anna Donatella Hultin, fighting in her hometown of Ystad,   won a six round unanimous decision over Valija Lasmanovica of Riga Latvia.  Hultin improved her record to 5-1-0 (2KO), and Latvia fell to 1-3-0 (1KO).  No other details at this time.

March 24, 2012 - Palacio de Deportes, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Katy Wilson Castillo
, 121½, hometown fighter won a 10-round unanimous decision over Ada "The Ace" Velez, 121½,  for the IBF super bantamweight title.  Judges scores were 97-93, 97-93, 97-93.  In another female bout, Dahiana Santana won by a second round stoppage of late replacement boxer Diane Garcia in a non-title eight round bout.  Garcia did not come out for the third round.

March 24, 2012 - Gimnasio Municipal, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico
Susana Vazquez
, 110¼,  won an eight-round unanimous decision over Luz Rodriguez. 36-year-old Rodriguez, 110,  has a professional boxing career that dates back 11 years ago.  She left the sport in 2005, and returned in 2009.

March 24, 2012 - Oswiecim, Poland
Lightweights Karolina Owczarz, 133½,  won a four-round unanimous decision over Irene Gambrah,137¼.  Final judges scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 39-38.

March 23, 2012- Club Atlético y Social Villa Calzada, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Ana Laura Esteche
, 135¼, of San Martin, won by six-round unanimous decision over Silvia Fernanda Zacarias, 135½, Buenos Aires.  

March 23, 2012- Edmonton, Canada
Jelena Mrdjenovich
, 126, won the vacant featherweight WBC / WIBA featherweight titles when she stopped Lindsay Garbatt, 126,  1:45 seconds in the first round.  This was a trilogy for the two, with the first two fights, Garbatt winning in one fight a majority decision and another by a split.
 

March 22, 2012 - Twin River Casino Event Center, Lincoln, Rhode Island
The old adage that a ‘win is a win’ certainly applied to Aleksandra Lopes’ in her Welterweight match up with Ashleigh Curry at the Twin River Casino Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island Thursday night.  Lopes collected a 40-36, 39-37, 39-37 four round unanimous decision victory over Curry in a fight that had both boxers admitted they were perplexed at their opponents respective styles. The results of which produced a few unexpected lulls in the action....Full Story

Super featherweight Marianna Gulyas, of Hungary, won an eight round unanimous decision over Eva Marcu, Romania.  In a second female bout, bantamweight Claudia Ferenci, Slovakia,  won a six-round unanimous decision over Anita Forqacs, of Hungary.

March 18, 2012 - Auditorio Municipal, Huixtla, Chiapas, Mexico
Super bantamweight Jessica Villafranca, 120,  won by a (1:12)  second round TKO over Maria Jimenez, 121. The fight was scheduled for eight rounds.

March 17, 2012 - Club Sportivo America, Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina
Super flyweight Marisa Johanna Portillo won a four rounder by points over Marta Soledad Juncos.

March 17, 2012 -  Deportivo del Sindicato del Metro , Mexico City, Mexico
Four thousand Mexican fans saw Alicia "Slick" Ashley retain her WBC super bantamweight crown by winning a unanimous decision over Mary E. Villalobos Despite the desire of local Villalobos to snatch the crown from the Jamaican Ashley, the champion showed her class and accuracy in the beating of the latter, giving a lesson to the Chilanga. Yesica Marcos, 120¾, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Ana  Julaton, 122. The two were fighting for the WBO super bantamweight title. Scores: 92-98, 91-98, and 92-98.  Below video of complete fight.

won a 10-round unanimous decision over Brazilian Duda "Diamond" Yankovich. the two were fighting for the vacant WBO Lightweight title.  WBAN was told this fight was a toe-to-toe battle in the ring.

March 10, 2012 - Club Ferro Carril Oeste, Merlo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Debora "La Gurisa"  Dionicius
, 117½, of Villaguay, Entre Rios, Argentina,  won by a fifth round TKO over Natalia Vanesa Lopez, 121¾,  in a scheduled eight round bout.  In the WBAN 2011 yearly awards, Bionicius was named our "Rookie of the Year.   WBAN wrote at that time of the Awards: "Can you spell T-A-L-E-N-T! This new "Rookie", Debora Dionicius, of Argentina, who joined the pro ranks in 2011, has a reported 109 amateur fights coming into the pros---and she is currently undefeated as a professional boxer with a 7-0-0 (3KO) record. Debora accumulated this boxing record in less than one years time which qualified her as our top "Rookie" boxer of the year.  An interesting tidbit of information on Dionicius is that she made her pro debut on her birthday, and her last fight on December 17, 2011, she fought just hours after getting married! How is that for a die-hard boxer.

Teresa Perozzi, 158½, of Warwick, Bermuda, successfully defended her WBA Middleweight title when she won a 10-round unanimous decision over April Ward, 156¼. The final judges scorecards were 100-90, 100-90, and 98-92.

March 9, 2012 - Polideportivo Municipal, General Conesa, Buenos Aires, Argentina
 Monica Acosta, 139¼,  of Argentina, remained undefeated, with now a 16-0-2 (2KO) record when she won a 10-round unanimous decision over Michelle Bonassoli, 137. Acosta was defending her WBC junior welterweight title.

March 9, 2012 - Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar, California
Bantamweight Amaris Quintana, 117,  won a four-round unanimous decision over Blanca Raymundo, 117.

March 9, 2012 - Palazzio Videmar, Tlatelolco, Distrito Federal, Mexico
Super flyweight Estrella "Chacala" Valverde won by a first round KO over pro debuter Heidi Ursua in a scheduled four round bout.

March 9, 2012 - Rhode Island Convention Center, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA

Kali Reis, 151 3/4, now 4-1-1, of Providence, won a four-round unaimous decision over pro debuter Marva Dash,  156 lbs.  Final judges scores were 40-36 on all of the cards.

March 7, 2012 -  BB Kings Blues Club in the heart of Times Square, New York
Keisher McLeod-Wells and Patty Alcivar, two of the treasure trove of New York female boxers staged a six round testament to just how good their sport can be when the right fighters are matched by the right promoter. McLeod-Wells/Alcivar was a feature attraction in a nine bout card presented by Dibella Entertainment at a sold out BB Kings Blues Club in the heart of Times Square. The awful British Weather – cold with pouring rain, did not put off the loyal band of boxing fans at London, England’s York Hall, Bethnall Green on the afternoon of Sunday, 4th March 2012.  SEIZE THE DAY was the event’s title staged by The Queen of British Professional Boxing, Miranda Carter of LEFT JAB promotions.   This ladies Super Featherweight fight was the first in an eigiht-bout tournament. Originally listed as over 4 x 3 minute rounds...it  was in fact (correctly) fought over 6 x 2 minute rounds.  ARETI “The Master” MASTRODOUKA who will be 36 years old  later this month, was making her world debut as a professional boxer.

Super flyweight Carolina Duer, 115,  won by a second round TKO over Milena Tronto, 114¼.  The two were fighting for the WBO Super Flyweight world title. In a second female bout Jessica Cabrera, 117½,  won a four-round unanimous decision over Norma Caucota, 117¾.

March 3, 2012 - Salle Marie jose Perec, Fourmies, Nord, France
Lightweight Cindy Bonhiver, of Maubeuge, Nord, France, won a four-rounder by points over Valija Lasmanovica, of Riga, Latvia.

March 3, 2012 - Deportivo Trabajadores del Metro, Iztacalco,  Mexico
Ibeth Zamora Silva
won a 10-round bout against Guadalupe Bautista for a "WBC light flyweight YOUTH title".  Bautista is rated #32 with Boxrec, with a now 3-3-1 record.  Silva is rated #5 with Boxrec.

won a second round KO over Maria Alejandra Alvarado. The fight was scheduled for six rounds.
