Maureen Shea, returning to the ring following an eight month hiatus and the first two losses of her professional career, overwhelmed Norma Faris on the under-card of Joe DeGurardia's six bout boxing card at the Paradise Theater on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, NY on Friday night. Shea, who came to the bout at 130 pounds, stopped the Puerto Rican fighter, who weighed in a 129 and one half pounds, just before the bell rang to end the third round.  Shea had won each of the three rounds by increasingly larger margins before the end came. The first round was the lone stanza in which Faris put up any semblance of opposition and even then, the round was dominated by Shea who moved constantly forward in pursuit of a retreating Faris, as the Bronx born fighter scored effectively with heavy body shots. The second round was a replay of the first, with the lone difference being Faris threw fewer punches and backpedaled more, always with Shea in determined pursuit. The third two minute session saw barely any offense from the Puerto Rican featherweight, while Shea stalked her foe, constantly catching Faris on the ropes or in a corner. There were shouts from ringside to stop the one sided bout and, finally, just before the bell ending the third round, the bout was mercifully and correctly halted.  Maureen Shea improves her record to 14-2, recording her eighth stoppage. Faris drops to 3-3, having been stopped for the first time in her career.
