FEBRUARY 2010

February 27, 2010 - Electricians Union Hall, in  Miami, Florida
Ada "The Ace" Velez, 121, won a six-round unanimous decision over Stacey "Stay-Lo" Reile.  Both are from the Florida area.  WBAN was told that this fight was the best bout on the card this night and was a great fight that rekindled the audiences' passion for boxing fights and especially women's boxing.  This was Velez’s second bout on her comeback to the sport and she displayed why she is one of the top women boxers in the world.  

February 27, 2010 -  Discoteca Bahia, Montelibano
Dayana Cordero, making her pro debut, she defeated Maria Andrea Miranda, by a four-round majority decision.  Final judges scores were 39-37, 39-36, and 38-39.

February 26, 2010 -  Civic Center, Hammond, Indiana
Lightweight Brooke Dierdorff, 133, won a six-round unanimous decision over Mary McGee, 136. Final judges scores were 58-56, 58-56, and 58-56.

February 26, 2010 - Turning Stone Casino, Verona, New York
Amanda Serrano, 126 ½, Brooklyn, scored a unanimous win over Lucia Larcinese, 127, Montreal, in a crowd pleasing six. Serrano, now 5-0-1 with 3 stoppages opened the fight cutting down the ring and forcing a game Lucia Larcinese, now 4-5-0 into a neutral corner where the Brooklyn based featherweight won the first serious exchange of the bout.

February 20, 2010 - Salle de la préhalle, Herstal, Liege, Belgium
Featherweight Sabrina Giuliani, pro debut, won a four-rounder by unanimous decision over Nicky Mustaert 

February 20, 2010 - San Justo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Super bantamweight Sabrina Maribel Perez, 118¼ , won a six-round unanimous decision over Anahi Yolanda Salles, 118¼. 

February 20, 2010 - Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
Super flyweight Naoko Yamaguchi, 115,  won by a ninth round TKO over Rie Fujimoto, 114¾. The two were fighting for the OPBF female super flyweight title.

February 19, 2010 -  A La Carte Event Pavilion, in Tampa, Florida
Featherweight Jenna Shiver, 124¾, won a six-round unanimous decision over Caitlin Dance, 123¾. Final judges scores were 60-54, on all cards.

February 19, 2010 - Houston, Texas
Once again, the ladies stole the show in Houston. On a card chock full of one-sided quick bouts, Kita Watkins and Michele Nielsen engaged in a back and forth battle which kept everyone on their seats edge from bell to bell. The unfortunate part is that a mere four two minute rounds couldn't possibly decide a clear cut winner.  Arkansas native Watkins had previously engaged in a spirited four round battle with Houston trained and New Orleans native Tiffany Junot while Houston's Nielsen was coming off a competitive showdown with cross-town rival Crystal Delgado.

February 19, 2010 - Tri-State Sport Complex, in Aston, Pennsylvania
Super featherweight Melissa Hernandez of New York, won a six-round unanimous decision over Ela Nunez, also out of New York.
On February 18th, a day before the fight  Melissa Hernandez and Ela Nunez weighed in. The contracted weight was128 pounds, give or take 2 pounds. Hernandez weighed 126, Nunez 134. Nunez was fined for being over 4 pounds and the fight will go on at the agreement of both fighters (6 rounds).

February 15, 2010 - Club Los Titanes, La Tuna, Canelones, Uruguay
Lightweight Victoriana Britez, 133,  won a four-round unanimous decision over Cecilia Comunales, 135.



February 13, 2010 -  Uruguaiana, Brazil
Bantamweight Alicia Alegre TKO8 Adriana Zanella.

February 13, 2010 -  Edmonton, AB, Canada
Junior lightweight Amy Lynn Johnson, 128, had a four-round unanimous decision over Peggy Maerz.

February 11, 2010 - Houston, Texas
In the semi-main event (featherweights), Jennifer Scott, 124,
scored a TKO over Geboria Mayfield, 123½, in the 1st round.
Scott landed a right hand to the face of Mayfield in the last
10 seconds of round one. Mayfield staggered into the ropes.
The referee waves the fight off.

February 7, 2010 - World Memorial Hall, in Kobe, Japan Tsunami Tenkai won her first WBA super-flyweight title defense against Shanee Martin of United Kingdom by  a 10-round unanimous decision.  Judges scored the bout: 100-90, 100-90, 99-91. Tsunami said in a post-fight interview that she would like to fight Susi Kentikian in near future.

February 6, 2010 - Mungyoeong-city gymnasiums , South Korea
Ji-Hyun Park
, 100,  of Korea, won a 10-round split decision over Suszannah Warner, 101, of the United States for the IFBA Strawweight world title. Final judges scores were 98-93, 96-94, and 94-96.

February 6, 2010 - Night Club Faraon, Riga, Latvia
Super bantamweight Sofia Sidorova, 122¼, won by a RTD over Lana Anohina, 122¼, in the fourth round in a scheduled eight round bout.

February 6, 2010 - Boxtempel, Weissensee, Berlin, Germany
Welterweight Jennifer Retzke, 144, won a four-round bout by points over Julia Herbener, 149. Both were making their pro debut.  Also, Tanja Clausewitz, 114, TKO'd Aurora Daleanu, 116 in the fourth round. 

February 6m 2010 - Ginasio Noroestão, Paranavai, Parana, Brazil
Rosilette Dos Santos
won by a fourth round KO over Alessandra Silveira in a scheduled eight round bout.

February 5, 2010, at Yokohama-Bunka-Gym, in Kanagawa, Japan
Naoko Shibata
(WBC Strawweight #13) defeated Ayaka Miyao (WBC Atomweight #7) by a four-round unanimous decision In a 104 lb catch weight bout. Final judges scores were 39-38, 39-37, and 40-37.

February 5, 2010 - Blue Horizon, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Welterweight Jacqueline Davis, 146½, won a four-round unanimous decision over Melisenda Perez, 149. Final judges scores were 40-36, 40-36, 39-37.
