But the people I felt the most sorry for were the spectators."  In a more exciting women's bout on the card, Argentian junior bantamweight Marisa Portillo put up more of a fight against Adriana Herrera.  Santiago Balbis of El Telegrafo reports that: "Adriana Herrera put behind her the nightmare drubbing she suffered in Mendoza at the hands of Yèsica Marcos when she moved up two categories in weight to contest the South American Super Bantamweight title, and showed that her courage and will to win remain intact. It took her a while last night to find the range but once she did, she went from strength to strength, winning in the end by a comfortable margin on the scorecards (60-57, 60-57, 59-56)."

Garside became the new WBC Featherweight Champion by defeating Brooklyn's Dominga Olivo, 125, by unanimous decision. This was the first time a boxing event of this status has been held on Vancouver Island and the crowd loved the fact that the main event was one of their own.
