(SEPT 28)  Sunday was quarter-finals day at the 17th Asia in Incheon, South Korea where the boxing tournament is under the control of the AIBA and women’s interest centered on the three Olympic weights where China won all three titles in the last edition. No Cancan Ren this year neither is Cheng Dong representing the country at 60kg. (SEPT 23) On September 20, 2014 at Azalea Taisho Hall, in Osaka, Japan, there were two WBO female title bouts on the card.  WBO Atomweight champion Nao Ikeyama (JPN) won a unanimous decision over Masae Akitaya (JPN).  Akitaya went to the canvas in the 2nd round.  Kumiko "Seeser" Ikehara (JPN) won over Gretchen Abaniel (PH) by split decision. AIBA Officially Recognises Boxing India As Its New National Federation

(SEPT 16) With the 17th Edition of the Asian Games due to open in Incheon, South Korea on Friday 19th, there has been much relief in Indian boxing circles that the International Boxing Association (AIBA) has provisionally appointed a new National Federation to replace the I.B.F which was suspended in December 2012 and finally had its membership terminated in March 2014.  In an announcement from its HQ in Lausanne this week it was confirmed that the AIBA Executive Committee Bureau has formally recognized Boxing India as the provisional AIBA National Federation representing the sport of boxing in India.  Full Story

IWBHF Begins Planning for Second Induction

(SEPT 11)  The International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame [IWBHF], following the historical induction of seven women into the IWBHF ranks, has begun preliminary preparation for the second ceremony, scheduled for Summer 2015. USA Boxing’s Elite Teams to Hit the Road for International Competitive Opportunities

Shannon "Dallas" Hall, born April 18, 1970 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Her mother was a secretary, her father a professional wrestler. Her grandfather was an amateur boxer in the military.  Hall told WBAN, "My journey in combat sports began when I moved to Dallas, Texas at the age of 22, when I tried out for THE AMERICAN GLADIATOR television show. I actually tried out to be a contender,and ended up being asked to be one of the new female gladiators after making tryouts. I accepted the invitation and moved to Los Angeles in 1993.  Full Story
