Chile:  Daniela Asenjo to fight Ruth Pasternostti

 (MAY 31)  On Friday night (June 2) at the Gimnasio Club Las Animas, in Valdivia, Chile, Super flyweight Daniela "La Pantera" Asenjo, 4-1-2 (0KO), of Valdivia, is set to fight Ruth Pasternostti, 0-1-1, of Cordoba, Argentina.  The two will be fighting a four-round bout. Asenjo's last fight on in October 2015, so this will be a return to the ring after over a year not fighting as a pro.

Costa Rica:  Hanna Gabriels Won by Decision over Natasha Spence

(MAY 30)  On Saturday night at the  BN Arena, Hatillo, San Jose, Costa Ricam Hanna Gabriels won a ten-round unanimous decision over Natasha Spence for the WBO and WBA Super Welterweight belts. Gabriels was defending the WBO belt. Final judges scores 99-91 on all cards.

Derieuw Wins by Decision over Montanari for WBF International Title

(MAY 28)  Undefeated Oshin Derieuw put on a master-class on Saturday night at the Salle Marcel Dufour in Louvroil, France, beating compatriot Marion Montanari to win the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens International Light Welterweight title.  Headlining a show promoted by the Boxing Club de Louvroil, 30-year-old Derieuw was always one step ahead of the brave and gutsy Montanari (32), and put on a near flawless performance on her way to winning her first professional title in dominant fashion.  Full Story

Mexico:  Four Female Bouts Featured on Card

This Saturday, May 27th, at the Ciudad Obregon, in Sonora, Mexico, there are four female bouts that will be featured on the card.  There are five men's bouts also on the card.  In a ten round bout for the Interim WBC light flyweight title, Kenia Enriquez, 18-1-0 (8KO), of Tijuana, Mexico, will face Maria Salinas, 15-5-3 (5KO), of Saltillo, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico....Full Story

Heather Hardy Wins by a Decision over Edina Kiss (MAY 19)  Last night at the the Paramount Theater, in Brooklyn, New York, Heather Hardy, 125.5,  won an eight round unanimous decision over Edina Kiss, 124.5.  This was a rematch for the two where Hardy defeated her by decision earlier this year. Hardy was defending her WBC Inter. Featherweight title.

(MAY 10)  The XXXIV International “Feliks Stamm” Tournament for Elite Men and Women took place in Warsaw, Poland with the finals on Saturday and Sunday.  This was a tournament which included five weights for women, not just the usual three but both male and female entries were missing some of the more famous names in AIBA/EUBC ‘amateur’ boxing since they have all departed to pastures new, mainly the Pro sport, since those ill-fated Rio Olympics which saw so many controversial issues and decisions in and out of the ring.  Full Story

Not a History First: Setting the Record Straight

 WBAN received a Press Release from Golden Boy Promotions, with Marlen Esparza stating the following:  "It's great to make history being the first woman in Nevada to do three-minute rounds....." Apparently Esparza is not aware that she is far from the first.  The four-rounder took place last night at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Marlen Esparza and Samantha Salazar fought on the undercard with Esparza winning by a unanimous decision.  Full Story

Eva Wahlstrom Successfully Defends her WBC Title Against Mayra Gomez

(MAY 7) Last night at the Gatorade Center, Turku, Finland, super featherweight  Eva Wahlstrom won a ten-round unanimous decision over Mayra Alejandra Gomez.  Wahlstrom was defending her WBC Super Featherweight title for the third time.  Wahlstrom won the belt in 2015 when the belt was vacant defeating Natalia Aguirre.
