(MAR 29)  Cindy Serrano and Fatuma Zarika battled to a six round draw in the co-main event of New Legend's sixteenth International Fight Night, a nine bout card Saturday night at Resorts World Casino in the borough of Queens, in the city of New York. The three judges' scorecards reflected, accurately, just how close the bout was: Jim Pierce had it 58-56, Serrano, Ron McNair 58-56, Zarika and Robin Taylor accentuated the evenness of the bout with a 57-57 count. Those are essentially the basic facts of the penultimate bout of the evening, but the back story of the fight properly adheres to a couple of long time boxing adages....Full Story

Jelena Mrdjenovich TKO'd Francia Bravo in Panama

(MAR 28) Last night at the Hotel Sortis, in Panama City, Panama, Jelena Mrdjenovich, 126, of Edmonton, Canada, won by a ninth round TKO over Francia Bravo, 125, of Cerete, Colombia.   Mrdjenovich was defending her WBC Featherweight World Title in this ten round scheduled bout.

(MAR 26) WBAN just posted the fight video of the March 21, 2015 - Centro de Convenciones, Tlalnepantla, México, Ibeth Zamora Silva, 112, of San Cristóbal Huichochitlán, México, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Suri Tapia, 109¼, of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. Final judges scores were 99-91.

(MAR 25)  Today, 500 days from Rio 2016, WBAN would like to offer an ‘open’ invitation to AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu to outline for us the AIBA’s plans for women’s boxing in the period between now and 2020.
Over the past several years, WBAN has devoted extensive coverage of AIBA tournaments, large and small, in the same way we have covered the Pro.sport. Both ‘Amateurs’ and Pros’ alike share common aims. Each has a significant role to play in the ‘boxing of the future’ thus anything that can be done to assist must surely be welcomed by all existing Professional bodies and by the AIBA.  Full Story

She is petite yet powerful. She can seem quiet and reserved from the sidelines before becoming a formidable beast in the ring. She is feminine and ultra "girly" outside the ropes but all fire and fury on the canvas.

(MAR 15)  Only two women's weights at this year's Gee Bee international tournament in Helsinki which ended Sunday, 51kg and 60kg. The outcome was one Gold each for women’s boxing ‘superpower’ China and for host nation Finland.  Full Story
