Anahi Sanchez Wins by KO over Maria Brito

(JULY 17)  On Friday night at the Club Comunicaciones, Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Anahi Sanchez, 135, won by a first round KO over Maria Brito, 134.5.  Sanchez last fought in May of 2017 when she fought for a world title against Maiva Hamadouche, losing by TKO in the fourth round.  Brito's last fight took place in January 2017 when she lost to Rose Volante in a six rounder by decision.

(JULY 15) A busy time for women’s boxing as we’ve seen here on WBAN in recent weeks and more exciting news today as U.S Olympian Mikaela Mayer has confirmed the ‘expected’ news that she has turned Pro under Top Rank. On her Social Media accounts she revealed: “I have decided to take the next step in my career and have accepted a contract from @trboxing to turn Pro. I have taken SO much pride in representing Team USA over the years and leaving USA Boxing and my chance at an Olympic gold in 2020   Full Story

(JULY 14)  On July 11, 2017,  at Korakuen Hall Tokyo, in Japan, Nao Ikeyama fougt Saemi Hanagata in a 10-round bout where Ikeyama was defending her WBO 102 lb. title.  The bout ended in a split draw.  Samart of Japan reported that it was a very good matchup, and that Ikeyama and Hanagata showed their best.  Judges scores: 95-95, 96-94, and 94-96. (JULY 4)  Former WBO world female flyweight champion and current WBC interim light flyweight queen Kenia Enriquez will hold her 3rd Annual All-Female Amateur Boxing Invitational Tournament on the Sunday, August 6th, 2017 in her hometown of Tijuana, Mexico. Enriquez, who also held the NABF junior flyweight title in 2014, fought over 70 times as an amateur and won bronze at the Mexican Nationals in 2011.  Full Story
