Carina Moreno travels to Germany!
December 31, 2006

(DEC 31) Carina Moreno, of California, will be traveling over to Germany to spar with Regina Halmich of Germany, This is the second time that Moreno has been invited over to Germany.
Halmich is preparing for her upcoming bout against Hungary's Reka Krempf, and that fight will take place on January 13, 2007.  Carina will be leaving today, and she returns on January 7, 2007.   Full Story

Advanced Screening: Meet the Maker of "Boxers"  

(DEC 29) the advanced screening of "Boxers", will take place on  January 28, 2007, 7:00 p.m., before premiering in March at Walker Art Center's Women with Vision Film Festival.  A woman-owned boxing gym with an all-female amateur boxing team are putting in their mouth guards and changing the face of boxing as they train to compete in the world's largest international boxing tournament. Rematch in the Making for Halmich?

(DEC 23) It looks like TV "Big Mouth" Stefan Raab, 40 years old,  has not had enough of Regina Halmich, and wants to have another television exhibition with the German Boxing star.  In an article this week, Raab talked about fighting Halmich again, which drove up the TV ratings with 7.35 viewers in 2001, when they first did an exhibition.   Raab walk away from the experience with a broken nose.  The two went five rounds.  Full Story

Fiorentino Wins Close Decision over Laracuente

Friday night at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, IWBF featherweight and lightweight champion Missy Fiorentino (15-1) won a close six round decision over six time world title challenger Belinda Laracuente (22-16-3).  The bout was a rematch of their 2005 fight in which Fiorentino won a lopsided unanimous decision.  Judges scores were 58-57, 58-56, and 59-55, all for Fiorentino.  WBAN scored the fight 57-57 even. Holly Holm became a three time World Champion Friday night as she captured the IFBA Jr. Middleweight to go along with her IBA Jr. Welterweight title and WBA Welterweight title with an almost complete shutout of Trica Turton. Holm captured the title by the scores of 100-90 twice and 99-91 on the final card. Holm was the bigger and quicker of the two and it showed as she was able to dominate the game Turton, who was just to small.  Full Story
