Source:  Media

(MAR 11) On Sunday, March 8, 2020, there was a tragic accident that took place where a  group of Sonoran amateur boxers died in a bus accident.

WBAN was first notified of this tragedy on Facebook, where it was written: "Yet another sad story hits our world of boxing as a bus loaded with amateur boxing teenagers flipped over several times on the highway out in Sonora, Mexico as the tragic accident leaves seven (7) youth athletes dead along with the bus driver and head coach Jonathan Oros, 10 others badly injured. Our prayers and condolences go out to all those affected by this tragedy."

According to news sources it was an amateur boxing team originating from Puerto Peņasco, Sonora. This group was returning from a regional competition.

It was reported that the accident occured shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, and shortly thereafter an emergency call first came in at 2:20 a.m.

Ernesto Munro, mayor of Puerto Peņasco, issued the order to assist the relatives of the deceased, as well as those who were injured. He requested immediate attention for the needs of each person affected by the accident.
