Women Boxing
March 27, 2017

A lot of women are boxing. There are actually several boxing fights for women. This has not always been the case. For the longest time women boxing has been outlawed. In some countries women are still not given boxing licenses. This is despite the fact that since the very conception of the sport women have been taking part in it. There are large numbers of women that contributed to boxing as a sport. However, due to the nature of previous societies they were forced to do so from the shadows. Therefore, their efforts are not well documented. The world has since changed from those days. Now women in boxing are celebrated instead of being victimized. Things they do for the sport are recognized at all levels of society.

No More Shadow Boxing

The discipline of women’s boxing was incorporated in the Olympics as a boxing event. That has to be the biggest success any sport can achieve. The Olympic Committee is very strict about which sports to include at the Olympics. Getting admitted into the Olympic program is indeed a big deal.

As women are now being given boxing licenses it means that they are no longer restricted to friendly spurring contests. They can now take part in the full contact competitive boxing at the highest levels. Just like any other professional athletes.

Effectively it means that even in regions where women’s boxing is still illegal there is now a lot of pressure from the international community to relax the laws. Very soon no female boxer will have to be ashamed or face persecution for following their passion. . Now women boxing matches headline events instead of just being the listed on men’s boxing card.
