(OCT 5) Five-time World Champion
Chevelle Hallback has been waiting on the sidelines as others
continue to get those opportunities.
Hallback, a native of Plant City, Florida began her professional
boxing career on February 21, 1997, capturing five world titles
in four different weight classes along the way.
Hallback has been in training
camp for the past five months in hopes of getting that call to
fight while her manager has been contacting managers and
promoters from around the world in an attempt to land her a
bout.
Chevelle tells WBAN that she's patiently waiting on that call to
fight:
"I can't understand why promoters who have fighters like Cecilia
Braekhus, Erica Farias, Alejandra Oliveras, Fernanda Soledad
Alegre, Klara Svesson, Delfine Persoon, Ana Laura Estuche and
Svetlana Kulakova don't give us a call. A fight between me and
any of these fighters would be a good one," Hallback said.
She also stated that at her age she feels good and ready to
compete.
"Women in boxing develop much later than men and I feel strong
right now. I just want to fight. My manager was in dialogue with
Cecilia's camp before they signed to fight Ramona Khüne and I
thought that Cecilia would give me another shot. Cecilia is the
best female fighter in the world and she has carried herself as
a champion should. It would be an honor to fight her again.
Don't get me wrong (Chevelle said with a smile), I'll fight
anybody within the 140 or 147 pound division, I just want that
call to come before 2015 ends. I also heard that multiple world
champion Alejandra "La Locmotora" Oliveras would fight me, well
let's get it done," said Hallback.
Chevelle's management team tells WBAN that they will continue to
work with fevor to land her a fight before the end of the year.
