(NOV 19) Today at the Mayweather gym in Las Vegas I met up with former WBC Featherweight Champ Melissa Hernandez.

Hernandez is fighting Layla McCarter in an eight-round fight. This is the third time that Hernandez will be fighting McCarter.  They are 1-1.

Hernandez said, "She's not fighting a little girl no more".  Hernandez expressed that she is very confident going into this fight because she matured as a fighter and a person.

Hernandez in only her fourth fight took on veteran Kelsey Jefferies 33-9 and fought a 10 round draw, in her seventh fight she took on 12-2-3 Lisa Brown and won a 10 round unanimous decision, 2007 was the first fight with McCarter for the GBU Lightweight title, she didn't come out for the 9th round, a few months later she had a rematch and won a majority decision against McCarter.

Some compare Hernandez's style to the late Macho Camacho, she has swag and she is a showman.

Most of her 27 fights were against top competition, she went in as an under dog and came out the winner.
