(JULY 6) Ventura County, California has become a hotbed for professional boxing with several current and former world champions living and training in the area, as well as being home to multiple world class gyms and trainers. Despite that fact, there has never been a world title fight held in the “boxing capital of California”. Boxing fans will be one step close to seeing that happen on Friday, July 11, 2014 when “The Real Million Dollar Baby”, Maureen Shea (23-2, 11 KOs) defends her NABA Featherweight Championship in the main event of Ice VS. Fire III at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.

Shea, a native New Yorker, moved to Ventura in 2011 looking to revitalize her career in the ring. Fast forward to 2014, and Shea now finds herself on a sensational 10 fight winning streak. Currently ranked in the top 5 of all four major boxing sanctioning bodies in the female featherweight division, the fast talking and hard hitting Shea has become a bona fide celebrity in Ventura County since her last victory at Ice VS. Fire II this past March when she captured a national title, the NABA Female Featherweight Championship.

Now, “The Real Million Dollar Baby”, a nickname which comes from Shea’s time working as the sparring partner for Hilary Swank during the actress’ preparation for her Academy Award winning role in the film, Million Dollar Baby, is closing in on a shot at a world championship.

“I’ve been fighting professionally for almost a decade and it’s been a long and sometimes bumpy road but I feel it’s all been worth it”, explains Shea. “I fought for a world title and came up short, I won an interim world title, I’ve won regional and national titles but I’ve never felt complete. A world title has always been my goal. Now, with the backing of Top Players Promotions, the support of a wonderful community like Ventura County, I feel like the stars have aligned for me personally and professionally. I’m the most well rounded fighter and person I’ve ever been.”

Top Players Promotions is also thrilled to announce, due to popular demand, the entire card will be broadcast live on Go Fight Live TV (www.gfl.tv) and in special treat for fight fans, former lightweight champion of the world and one of the most popular boxers of all time, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini will be ringside providing commentary for the event for the online broadcast.

GFL TV is the premiere online broadcaster of combat sports and Ice VS. Fire III is available now for pre purchase at www.gfl.tv for only $9.99. In addition to the live stream, the entire card will be available for purchase at Go Fight Live TV the day after the fight.
