Ava Knight:  A public response to Ana Maria Torres
by Ava Knight
July 1, 2013

(JULY 1)  Fighting the best in the world is something that doesn't come easy for female fighters. We have larger obstacles to get the opponents to agree on date and times and on top of that get paid decently, which is about less than 1% of the pay of the men.

I will never doubt I am one of the best fighters in the world right now and the best Flyweight fighter in the world. I have taken on all challenges with confidence and never back down from a big name. I have one flaw on my record that I take with a heavy heart because the conditions of the fight.

Ana Maria Torres says, "I am not the best".   I came to challenge Ana Maria Torres who at the time was a world champion and 18-3-2 while I only obtained a record of 5-0-2. Anyone would have said this fight was a mismatch, and as a champion of her caliber, she should have never fought a young girl with as little experience as me and should have fought better. With a hurt back, and food sickness from Mexico, I stood 10 rounds losing to Ana in a decision. With that said, she goes to say I have fought no one and am not the best.

I can publicly say,

I WANT MY REMATCH WITH ANA MARIA TORRES AND I WILL WIN. I AM NOT A CHILD ANYMORE, I AM NOT HURT, AND I AM A BETTER FIGHTER.

As I respect Ana greatly, as a fighter, mother, wife and inspiration to a lot of young women, business is business.

Regards,
Ava Knight
IBF &WBC World Champion
