(MAY 16)
Update from day 1 of the continental Championships here in
Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela
Tonight I fought Mildred Cruz of Dominican Republic and won
21-7. This was a great opening bout for me to feel out the
competition and get focused. I was able to win each round and
gain confidence as the fight progressed.
In the other quarter final on my side of the bracket, USA-
Marlene Esparza faced Columbian- Ingrid Valencia. Marlen came
away with the win with a score of 17-14.
Tomorrow in the semi-finals I will face Usa's Marlen Esparza.
This will be a rematch from last year's continental
Championships. Bouts will take place at 5pm.
The other semi-final in the 51kg weight class will be Venezuela
vs. Brazil.
My team-mate Kim Klavel also fought tonight in the 48kg weight
division and won over Columbia 22-5!
Our team is off to a great start!
Also fighting tomorrow will be Vicky Pellitier (54kg), Stephanie
Walker (60kg), Maude Burgeron (81kg)
More updates to follow.
