Latest Update on Multi-World Champion Layla McCarter
Source: Team McCarter
May 23, 2013

(MAY 23) WBAN received a "latest update" on multi-world champion Layla McCarter, of Las Vegas, Nevada.  McCarter continues to be extremely busy in the sport, whether it is in the ring (when she can get her team to successfully negotiate a fight), and out of the ring!

Team McCarter told WBAN The following:

"We are leaving Sunday to South Africa for 10 days to work with the government.  Also I offered Nisse of Sauerland Promotions $60, 000.00 to fight Layla in September in South Africa,  and he turned down.

I can't understand why, the money is very good. They claim to fight everyone everywhere. I guess not. That's the big different between Layla and Cecilia, Layla arise to the occasion and Cecilia doesn't. We will fight in September anyway, probably someone also in the 147 or 140 lbs. I would love to make the fight here in Vegas with Cecilia but they just don't want it. We will keep fighting and winning and hope one day the fight can be made.  Anyway I just want to keep you informed...thanks for all your help and we will also fight for your belt in our next fight....Thanks..McCarter Team"

We asked Luis Tapia of Team McCarter to send us any documentation as to the offer to Team Sauerland in regards to Cecilia Braekhus.

Of what we reviewed it appeared there was a "television rights issue"  where it was said that there was no way they could go where there is no "TV".    We will keep boxing fans updated as to any progress on this potentially huge fight that could hopefully be on the horizon.
