(OCT 10) On October 8, 2011, in
Los Cabos, Mexico, there were four women's bouts on the card.
WBAN received photos of each of the pairs of women who would be
fighting on this particular card as a courtesy to post
information on the weigh-in.

Cara Cabana (pro debut) vs. Maureen Shea
Lets get this right, this time....
As most of you know, WBAN has
grown tired of the overused phrase that women boxers used, "Million Dollar Baby".
Too many women jumped on that
band wagon after the success of the Academy Award winning movie,
"Million Dollar Baby" .
Maureen Shea in particular, wore that name like a badge of
honor, for years calling herself---- "The REAL Million Dollar
Baby."
Shea was
instrumental in working with the main character of that
particular movie, Hillary Swank, to
prepare Swank for the role as a female boxer. So if anyone
was entitled to call themselves the Million Dollar baby, it was
Shea.
Since that time from about 2005,
WBAN has received countless press releases about Shea and
the highly expose ring name she used, "The REAL Million Dollar
Baby".
But what was absent this last weekend in Los Cabos was
that NOTHING came up with the
Maureen "The REAL Million Dollar Baby" Shea fighting
on this card.
Even though
Shea is associated in a highly visible public manner under that
name "Maureen "The Real Million Dollar Baby Shea--- as a boxer......WBAN was given a different name
of who was fighting.

Call it accidental, call it
deliberate, call it what you like....You be the judge...
When WBAN received the weigh-in
shots from MEXICO, apparently MAUREEN SHEA was fighting under
her birth name
CARRANZA.
Who's
fault was it? Hmmm...the
promoter got her name wrong from BoxRec? Hmmm...did the
promoter, or matchmaker not know anything about Shea being in
Mexico to do a television reality boxing show last year?
Mistakes...just mere mistakes, I am sure....
On the day of the weigh-in WBAN was given the name "Marichia
Carranza." At the time, we did not connect the photo with Shea.
So folks, JUST TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT---"The REAL Million
Dollar Baby" MAUREEN SHEA, AKA, birth name, Maureen
Carranza, 137¾, NABF champion, now 16-2-0 (10KO), defeated Yara Cabanas, 136¾,
pro debut, by TKO in the second round.
