Ana Maria Torres’ 10th defense is changed to Los Cabos
Source/Press Release
September 29, 2011

(SEPT 29)  Ana Maria Torres, one of the top female boxers in the sport, continues to make history, as she will defend her WBC Super flyweight World title for the 10th time against Argentinian Marisa Portillo (10-4-2, 2 KO´s).

Her great charisma and fanbase around Mexico make Ana Maria Torres a great attraction for boxing fans, a fact that has made many venues around Mexico to fight for the right to present her. That was the case with Los Cabos, Baja California, where “La Guerrera” will defend her title.

The show was named “Su Majestad, La Guerrera” (Her Majesty, La Guerrera), and is presented by HG Boxing “The Home of the champions”, that is led by Hector Garcia, a promoter that has been distinguished to give impulse to female boxing in Mexico. The show was originally planned to be held at Guadalajara, but it was decided to change it to Los Cabos, one of the most beautiful touristic attractions in Mexico.  The date is the same, which will take place on October 8th.

Torres will fight again after successfully beating Jackie Nava in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, where she obtained a WBC Diamond belt for the first time for a female boxer, distinction only attained by some of the greatest boxers of our time, like Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins and Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez.

The show will be available for free, on channel 5 on the now traditional “Sabados de Corona”. The undercard is pretty good too, as WBF Flyweight Champion Irma Sanchez will defend her title for the first time.
