Jaime Clampitt: "Holm is Beatable"
By Andy Rivera
July 23, 2010

(JULY 23) Jamie Clampitt isn't being cocky when she says Pound for Pound female fighter Holly Holm is Beatable. she just is confident in her skills and game plan when the two meet August 6th at the Hard Rock Casino Albuquerque, Clampitt looks to do what many have tried to do but have failed; beat Holm, Holm hasn't lost since 2004. Clampitt feels she has the tools to win the against the much bigger Holm .

"I know Ill be the smaller fighter come fight night, I'm under the weight limit now, but to beat the best you have to fight the best and in fighting Holly I'm doing that." says Clampitt

Clampitt (21-4-1 7 ko's) feels that in order to beat Holm you have to not let the fight be dictated by Holm. "Holly is good at what she does, she has mastered her style, she is awkward not to mention a left-handed fighter," says Clampitt "I do feel that most fighters she has fought try to figure out Holly rather then go at her ,by the time they figure her out its too late and Holm has too many round in the bag."

The two have three common opponents Linda Laracuente, Mia St. John and Jane Couch; Holm has beaten all three as has Clampitt, but Clampitt split with Couch. Clampitt's win over Couch in 2004 was voted Fight of The Year by the prestigious Ring Magazine.

Fighting in Holm's hometown isn't too much of a worry for Clampitt as many have thought fighting in Albuquerque Holm has an advantage. "I am confident that the judges will do the right thing in the fight, I'm happy that there will be neutral judges for this fight."

When asked about Holm fighting in her hometown most of her career Clampitt thinks for Holm to get known more world wide she should fight out of town and country. "There has got to be a time where she fights out of town and gets more exposure, I understand the whole reasoning behind her staying home." states Clampitt "She fights in front of big crowds and gets bigger paychecks to do so, but I think she should see what its like to fight somewhere else."

Another issue when fighting Holm in Albuquerque is the altitude which is a mile high, Clampitt doesn't think that will be an issue as well. "I lived in Calgary, Canada and its higher then New Mexico so it shouldn't be a problem adjusting, plus I feel training in the hot humid weather here in Rhode Island is just as hard and should prepare me as well."

The 34 year old mother of one has been around boxing going on 20 years, she first competed as a gymnast but wanted to get into better shape so she figured she would go to a boxing gym and workout there, she fell in love with boxing and has been doing it since, in fact boxing is also where she found her husband Ryan Hayes.

"Ryan was one of the guys I would spar with when preparing for a fight and our relationship grew from there. He has been around boxing all his life as well working with Vinny Paz so it helps in our relationship and were on the same page."

Holm and Clampitt will fight for the vacant IBA Jr. Welterweight title when the two collide, if successful in beating Holm, Clampitt will claim her third world title, having held the IWBF Lightweight and Jr. Welterweight titles, but to beat Holm Clampitt knows she has to be at her best.

"I don't want to reveal our game plan but we have watched a lot of tape on holly and she doesn't change much in her fights, she does the same thing but does it well. I just have to jump on her right away and not let her build up points and rounds." says Clampitt

"Holly has weaknesses and we expect to exploit them and win, she is beatable and we will show that August 6th."
