Brown Wins Fifth Different World Title

(MAR 28) In the W.B.A. Super Bantamweight women’s world championship match Lisa “Badnews” Brown (17-4-3, 5 KO’s) of Toronto, won an impressive 100-90, 99-91, 99-92 unanimous decision victory over Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton (6-2-1, 1 KO) of Daly City, California.

This was Brown’s fifth different world title! Julaton is the current W.B.O. and I.B.A. Super Bantamweight world champion. The southpaw Brown came out fast trying to impose her will on Julaton and never let up on her for the entire fight. Brown used her feints well drawing Julaton in and landed straight left hands over and over to the face of Julaton. Julaton did not have an answer for Brown’s right hook or straight left hands throughout the entire fight.

When Julaton was able to block the left Brown would then mix things up with a left hook to the head of a straight left to the body. Instead, Julaton would just lunge in at Brown and get caught by the left hand over and over.

In the fifth round Julaton was cut on the left eye lid by a punch however the ring doctor let the fight continue. By the end of the fifth round both of Julaton’s cheeks were swollen and puffy and blood streamed down her face. Mid way through the sixth round Julaton lunged in to another left hand that opened another cut on the corner of her eye. Brown continued to punish Julaton for the rest of the fight. In fairness Julaton deserves credit for hanging in tough and finishing the fight.
