Press Conference: Holm vs. Hallback
Story by Dominic Gonzales
of NMfight.com
March 25, 2010

(MAR 25) There were no carrots; no bets between trainers, no trash talk between fighters, basically because there was no need. Yesterday’s press conference was as professional as they come, and with the card that Fresquez Productions has excellently put together the fans of Albuquerque are sure to get their money’s worth.

Wednesday’s conference kicked off with a special announcement from Isleta’s Sean Lujan, giving the inside scoop about the conversion from Isleta Casino and Resort to Hard Rock Casino Albuquerque, as well as sneak peak of what is in store for the casino, which includes the revamping of the showroom, and a Hard Rock restaurant to be constructed on the top floor.

Mr. Fresquez started the conference by announcing the under card which will feature the best of the best of Albuquerque and New Mexico. The card will kick off with a great Heavyweight bout featuring Fernando Reyes and the pro debut of fighter Eric Ballejos.

Sammy Pair (1-0) vs Edwin Rosado (1-5)

David Castillo (1-0) vs. Josh “Pit Bull” Torres (3-1)

Randy Arrellin (2-2) vs. Salvador Zamora (4-2)

David Proa (7-1) vs. Jonathan Arias (15-5)

In the co-main event Albuquerque’s “La Reina de Guerra” Victoria Cisneros (3-8) will take on Kentucky’s Terri Blair (11-14-3). As most of you remember, Cisneros showed a lot of heart and determination in her previous fight as a last minute replacement against Holly Holm. Blair is coming of a draw against Esther Phiri of Zambia. This is guaranteed to be an action packed co-main event which.

The Main Event will feature Albuquerque’s Holly Holm against Plant City Florida’s Chevelle “Fists of Steel” Hallback. Both fighters met in Albuquerque almost three years ago, with Holm coming out on top with the unanimous decision. Hallback’s manager Billy Calogero mentioned that Albuquerque ranks up there with Philadelphia and NYC as a Fight Town, Sherman while Hallback said she considers Albuquerque like her second home since she has been treated so well here. No Holm conference is complete without a word or two from Holly’s trainer Mike Winklejohn, who said “I know Chevelle hired a strength trainer but she should’ve saved that money and used it for her retirement.” speaking about Hallback’s strength coach Tortsen Kanzmeier, who has train the likes of Vitali Klitschko. Holm said that she know that Hallback is going to be more aggressive this fight, and its going to be a whole different fight, and though she cares about women’s boxing in general, she care more about winning her fight. Both fighters looked in excellent shape, and Holm vs Hallback is really going to be an awesome completion to such a well put together card by Fresquez Productions.

Mr. Fresquez ended the conference noting that there are still tickets available, but selling fast, and will such a diverse list of great fighters, fight fans are sure to get their bang for their buck!

Weigh-ins are scheduled for Thursday at 2pm in the Isleta Bingo Showroom, and the Warrior’s Vengence Card is set for this Friday. As always check back with NMFight.com for news and information.
