Larcinese Shines with Unanimous Decision Victory Over Dulin!

(DEC 7)  On Saturday night,  at Casino Montreal in Montreal, Canada, local favourite Lucia Larcinese (3-4) defeated Connecticut, native Karen Dulin (1-3, 1 KO) by a 60-54, 60-54 and 59-55 unanimous decision in a six-round super featherweight contest.

In a close opening round, both fighters tried to established their jabs and circled analysing each others style closely. Larcinese was able to use her jab to land good left hooks in over the top of Dulin’s guard.

In the second round, Larcinese and Dulin again traded jabs mid ring looking for openings. Larcinese was able to land a solid left hook at the mid point of the round which stopped Dulin in her tracks and backed her up. It seemed both women wanted to fight on the inside as they slugged it out. Larcinese seemed stronger and was able to move Dulin backwards in the clinches.

Dulin had an excellent start to the third round as she was able to set up Larcinese with the jab and land a short right hand to the side of the head that backed Lucia up. Both women traded combinations in close for the rest of the round but Dulin got the better of the exchanges.

Again, Dulin started off the fourth round strong landing right hands in over the top on Larcinese however at the mid point of the round Larcinese caught Dulin flush to the face which possibly broke her nose making it bleed which visibly bothered Karen. From that point on in the round Larcinese controlled the pace and tempo landing effective combinations to the head and body on the inside.

In the fifth round, Larcinese was able to assert her strength and will on a tired looking Dulin forcing her backwards with combinations to the head and body. Dulin’s nose continued to bleed badly and bother her however she showed determination and still engaged toe to toe with Larcinese when most fighters might have quit.

In the sixth round, Larcinese was again able to use effective head and body combinations to wear down Dulin on the inside pushing her backwards and roughing her up and finished the fight strong.

With the victory Larcinese moves to 4-4, putting together a string of three straight victories in as many months. Dulin's record drops to 1-4, 1 KO.
