(SEPT 10) Corinne “American Gladiator Panther” DeGroot fights for WIBA title and Leon “Hurry Up” Moore in NABA title fight.  On Saturday, September 26th, the eyes of the boxing world will be on the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Georgetown, Guyana as one of the sport’s budding superstars, WBC #7, NABA #1 Leon “Hurry Up” Moore (24-2, 22 KO’s) tries to become The North American Boxing Association (NABA),

The Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE), the WBA Fedecaribe and the WBA Fedelatin champion in one night when he takes on hard-hitting Former IBF, WBO & IBA World Champion Mauricio Pastrana (35-11-2, 23 KO’s) in the co-feature of “The Caribbean fury”.

American Gladiator and movie star Corinne “The Panther” DeGroot (11-0, 5 KO’s) will be the highlight of the evening against Guyanese champion Shondell Alfred for the Women International Boxing Association’s (WIBA) Bantamweight Title. DeGroot was born in Canada to Guyanese parents and is coming back home to challenge for the vacant world championship, while Alfred is aiming to reach the pinnacle of the sport after already capturing the WIBA Iberian Title.

Alfred and DeGroot are both aiming to become Guyana’s seventh world champion, while Moore is positioning himself for a title shot in the near future.

“Hurry Up is, undoubtedly, the future of the sport of boxing,” said Manager and Co-promoter Carwyn Holland, who is staging his third World title fight.

“Leon Moore has tremendous potential and if he wasn’t robbed in Columbia against Irene Pacheco and in Kyrgyzstan against Timur Shailezou, he would have been recognized by all the world bodies, and champions who are avoiding him. Moore has pure Caribbean talent and just as Usain Bolt dominated the so-called world’s-best-sprinters when he got the chance, Moore will dominate anyone within the 118-126 lbs divisions,” Holland stated.

Moore also shares the same view as his manager, he recalls entering the ring in Columbia with boos as the underdog but left hoisted on shoulders with applauses and a standing ovation.

In a recent publication Moore stated that he is looking to take revenge on any Columbian who faces him.
Former world champion Pastrana was originally given a contract to fight Moore for the four titles but had declined citing he had a better offer, and that sent the promoters soliciting Reynaldo Lopez. However after reading about Moore’s plans to beat up Columbians, Pastrana ordered his manager to sign the contract so he can put an end to Moore once and for all Columbians.

The Caribbean Fury will also see “The Battersea Bomber” Howard Eastman in action against Trinidadian and WBE Champion Kevin Placide. Guyana Heavyweight Champion Mitchell Rogers also see action. The rest of the undercard reads: Dexter Marques vs. Hewley Robertson, Iwan Azore vs. Wayne Briggs and Pauls Lewis Jr. vs. Shawn Pile.

The Caribbean Fury will be Televised by CaribVision (CMC) in association with the National Communications Network (NCN) and a North American Network to be named shortly.
